Nice controls and felt good to play. Just wish there was more jokes about Eskom though haha

Fun loop, I see speedrunning potential. I kept running away from the music though XD

Simple but feels good. Nice job! I though I could sneak through a gap on the one level, but I figured that was deliberate to make you go around :D

Submitted(+1)

Controls felt nice and responsive, good job!

Wow!

You are in primary and are already getting games of this quality out there, controls feel great.

You even got a functioning main menu, which is more than I did in 3 days :)

Keep it up and you'll be heading away from loadshedding and into much brighter places.

If I were to provide some feedback, try to avoid the invisible walls you placed, sometimes its the shortest route but my little slime buddy cant fit :(

This is good work, considering the fact that you're in primary school. The controls are really smooth and responsive  - I've played many, many games by experienced developers where the controls are horrible and it makes the game really unpleasant to play so well done to you!

I can also see that you really put a lot of thought into your level design, with lots of variety and experimentation, plus a few tricks! That is also really excellent work.

I laughed out loud at the ending too!

Please ignore the person or people who are giving some of the games low ratings. This is a jam and people shouldn't do that. You did really well. I hope you enjoyed making the game. That's what's most important.

Well done! Nice work. you being in Primary School this is very impressive  I really hope you continue with Make Games

Super well done, considering fact that you're in Primary School and that this was done solo makes this a very impressive accomplishment. Congratz!

Well done
I was a little sad when i fell off and had to restart from the beginning

Great work eskom are true monsters XD , really enjoyed the challenge of the one where you have to loop back around the level. Keep it up !

Well done! Nice work, is fun to play - didn't realise it was coal until level 3, I'd say HYPER-ForJ's tip would be super cool to add a little extra challenge.

Smooth controls! The jumping (actual jump, arc, and fall) FEEL SOOO GOOOOOD! If you're making games like this in primary, your future is looking bright (hehehe, see what I did there?)
Also appreciated the VFX feedback, makes jumping around feel great too. Well done

Just a wee tip: Don't allow player to get through the door if they haven't collected all the coal

Finally I can be the reason Loadshedding hits.

For a game made in under a day it's good, considering you are in primary school aswell!

Developer

Thanks for the positive word. I loved  your game @TheAngelessWitch . The art style was very unique. The music was really good and the menu was good.

Pretty cool, I was entertained!

Not bad kid, I like the Design of the Monster, but I think the level design and controls are a bit basic.
I think what it's missing is more Depth, could be a goal or a reason. Also, the game is missing some technical features, like a coal counter, checkpoints, and lives.
Definitely a neat concept though.

Thanks for the feedback I'm realy glad you enjoyed the game I will in the future finish this prototype. I wish you best of luck.

Love the concept, haha! So that's whos been stealing all the coal. Neat little platformer for a 24hr project, well done

I like your cute blob monster, controls worked smoothly, was sad when Loadshedding hit wanted to play a few more levels, good Job!

The game itself doesn't really communicate the theme of the jam. Still an admirable attempt for a game that was made in just under a day.

Would be intrigued to see further development of the game's idea. Some more set dressing and more involved level design would definitely do this game a world of good.

p.s.  A/D do not work., the left/right arrows are what control the character

Developer

Could you recommend how I could make this game fit with the theme of the jam please. Thanks for the feedback.

I haven't played your game yet but part of the challenge of the jam is figuring this out for yourself. So you have to think of the term "monster"  (you can look it up on various web sites) and all the different meanings it can have. You then need to think about how some of those meanings can be added to the story you want to tell in your game, or how a mechanic in the game might somehow hint at another meaning. For example, a monster can be a creature (which I think is what you did?) but a monster can also be a way a character (or a business) behaves that hurts other people or creatures. There are also other meanings.

Once the jam is over you'll see how people have done this in their games so have a look. Then, when you enter the next jam, think about how people in this jam thought about the theme and try to do that for your project.

However, for this jam, you still have time to work on your game a bit more if you want to and have time. Just upload a new version when you're ready.
