How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
Stakes is the unluckiest game of cups you've ever played. The dealer never cheats, but he doesn't have to. From stray cats, earthquakes, stuttering lights to ravens, spiders and sprinters passing by add to the difficulty in tracking which cup has the ball. One wrong guess, and you lose all your cash.

And if you thought that was unlucky, then you havent played Stakes II. The unluckiest game of Russian Roulette ever made.

Both made specifically for GB Jam 13 and included in this single download

That was a really fun ride! I thought the audio and visuals here were amazing for both of the games you packed into your entry. I never managed to survive long in Stakes II for the handful of plays I gave it, but I really liked the selection screen you came up with.

That was cool! The art is quite nice; the cute cartoon antics of "Stakes" and the grim certainty of "Stakes II" contrast nicely with each other, and the two different art styles aid that contrast.

While it may not be a chiptune, the audio and music is really good! Both tracks, heavy, thumping, and industrial, make me feel a distinct sense of urban disillusionment. Great stuff! My only note is that some sound effects (gunshot + earthquake) peak the audio above 0.0 dB while the music is playing.

Good work! Congratulations on the submission!

This game has taught me that I should never ever play Russian roulette. 6/6 headshots. May be unlucky, who knows. Art and sfx phenomenal, could imagine this being all tied into some overarching hustle universe, where the character has to progress through increasingly unlucky and dangerous tasks for some reason.

Two quirky, dark little games in one that really evoke a grittier aesthetic not often seen on the Game Boy. I enjoyed the fact that it is possible to follow the correct cup in the cups game and win consistently... I'm just not that good at it! And the Russian Roulette game has a nice twist that becomes apparent on each replay. Very short but nails the jam theme in my opinion

Okay the whole stakes II bit was rather good lmao, nice touch with the character select screen. Cool art and music, loved the  gritty vibes :)

gonna be real with you i played like on round of stakes 1 and then didnt want to do that anymore lol, but it was a nice teaser for stakes 2 (the 2 games on one cart vibe is very gameboy haha). If there is a way to not shoot yourself in the head in stakes 2 let me know lol, gave up after try 3. Very unlucky game!

music and audio was very clean too, nice heist thriller vibes that fit the game well.
