Though I am not a fan of button-mashing games, I wanted to give this game a shot. I’m so glad I did! It has a fun variety of quick pizza contest goodness tucked behind the art. Speaking of which: Of the game submissions I’ve played thus far, this has the most stand out art style to me. You two did a great job making this! :D

Thank you so much! It's so kind of you to give it a shot (and don't worry - I can completely sympathise with your feelings on button-mashers! It's why I wanted to vary the inputs somehow, at least). I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed it. I'll make sure to pass on your compliments to the artist, too!

This is incredible! I really didn't know what to expect on seeing the screenshots, but the gameplay really surprised me. The difficulty felt a little on the easy side, but that last dude in the Deep Pan mode was stressful haha. Still beat him though.

I can't say enough about the character designs and graphics in this. Really really spectacular, and I laughed at each one of their names and how clever they were. The pizza sprites are detailed and clearly let you know what you're looking for when choosing a slice, and all the background and visual effects make this game feel like a full-on indie title. If it were expanded a bit more, it probably could be!

I dunno, this just really screams polish and high quality to me, and the fact you even got some achievements implemented into it is just the icing on the... pizza? Fantastic job overall. I really enjoyed playing this game, and the visuals were an absolute treat as well!

Thanks so much for playing, Bauske! I saw your VOD. I'm sorry you weren't able to play directly from the MFA - I messed up after trying to embed an array file. The final version doesn't even need the embedding (I think). So that was embarrassing...

Either way, I'm really glad that you enjoyed the game. I agree that it's very short and simple, and  definitely needs expanding in terms of an actual gameplay loop. I didn't have the strongest idea for the game before I decided to make it, and I think it shows. It really did come down to 'there are eight directions that the d-pad can point in - maybe I could have eight slices of pizza.' And then I spent most of the time making the menus before doing the actual game part, which probably wasn't the greatest idea.

I mention all this because I think the strongest games come from solid and fully-formed concepts. It's why I was very inspired by your entry: your game is mechanically deep/rewarding, and naturally encourages replayability thanks to a high skill ceiling. It's clear that you've thought about what you want to happen and why. In contrast, I approached my game as a one-and-done experience around a loose concept, which I think really hampered the end result. But I really wanted to enter something into the jam (and it gave us Wedgelord, so I can't be too disappointed).

I probably sound a bit negative, but I've just been able to reflect now that the jam's over. Maybe I'll have to write a post-mortem, or something. But I really appreciate the feedback, and I'm flattered that you enjoyed the game so much!

Yeah, don't be too negative about it. Seriously, even though it is on the shorter side, that's not a bad thing. The experience was just super cool! It felt like a wonderful, bite-sized package. And not every game needs to be expanded upon. Sometimes a cool idea like this can just be what it is, and I love that. More than anything, I just really appreciate all the effort and love that went into it. It really shows!

And no worries about the MFA thing. I've never dove into using arrays, so I was unfamiliar with what was going on haha. I still got to play the game and that's what matters.

I still can't get over how good all the characters are. Like I know they're kind of one-and-done, but man they deserve all the attention because they are SO good. The designs, the names, just perfection. Again, please don't be down about your entry because it's absolutely wonderful. It is a game jam, after all, and I think your game perfectly encapsulates what the jam was all about, especially for a mobile-centric game. You really nailed it!

What a great little idea. It's like a Mario Party minigame expanded into a little arcade game.

Huge props to the artist, they really held nothing back. You two should collaborate again!

Really clever use of layers to contain the whole game in a single frame. This is 5 star submission for sure!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words. It's a simple idea pushed to breaking point in terms of content, but I'm so glad that you enjoyed it.

I'll be sure to pass on your feedback to the artist. We're hoping to do more together in the future, so I'm excited for whatever comes of that.

Awesome graphics and clever game play.

If this doesn't get top 3, something is way wrong :)

You're much too kind! Thank you!
