How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
The game is about trying to be unlucky on a slot machine with the goal of going broke. You can break mirrors to ensure you have an unlucky spin (losing the most money possible)

The presentation on this one is awesome- it looks and sounds very fitting for the Game Boy. I feel like maybe I'm not understanding something though? I don't really see what poking does other than accidentally make you more money lol.
I think I see the vision though! Maybe a quick change would be to let you poke the board after you spin so that you can break up matches? At least that would give the player another choice to make when they spin.
That was fun! Great take on the theme! While the mechanics are a bit unpolished, I still enjoyed trying to keep it from winning. Also, the backing tracks are calm and soothing.
That slot rolling sound is exceptionally loud, hovering around -5 LUFS and peaking above 0.0 dB consistently.
All-in-all, good work! Congratulations on the submission!
The presentation of this game is really good. All the animations and transitions are really well done, and it manages the Game Boy look well.
I think I'm missing something with the gameplay. If the goal is to lose, I don't really see the point in poking, for example. Some of the modifiers also seem more like they'd increase your win rate. I love the concept of needing to purposefully lose a slot machine, but the strategy of just spinning the slot machine over and over and dealing with the default weak odds seems to be enough most of the time.
Nonetheless, it's a cool little project, and I think there's a lot of potential in the concept.
Thanks for the feedback. I've learnt a valuable lesson about leaving some time at the end for game balancing. I think I was to focused on building a working slot machine that I forgot to incorporate enough changes to support my concept better. Will keep working on it though.
The slot machine itself is impressive. It functions nicely and gets the looks and effects just right. In that sense, I'd say it's a cool result.
Here's a weird deep cut for you - this game sounds exactly like Interplay's Solitaire Fun Pack for the Gameboy, and for that alone I kinda love it since I have that cart sitting in my GB stash as I type this. Game is odd and the visuals are perfect. I dig this one. Great job.
Thank you so much. I'll definitely have to give the Solitaire Fun Pack a go now
hmm the spin sound is a bit loud / piercing. other than that it was pretty fun to play
Thanks for playing, I'll definitely fix that sound for V2
