How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
In the game you will throw a die and depending on your roll you'll get money, the bigger the roll the more money but, you will also have to pull the trigger of a loaded gun the same number of times.

So it is better to have bad luck and roll low numbers, although you may need the money to get some items and get an advantage... How unlucky are you?

I like the idea of Russian roulette with an item shop. It was short but fun. I agree w/prior posts that being able to go straight to the back room would improve the flow. There’s an interesting trade off you set up with with rolls having a built in risk/reward ratio. I think the math just needs some adjusting, it’s really hard to survive enough turns (not that you’d want to) to fully interact with the item shop.

I already like the start of the game, and the rest is wonderfully crazy. Well done!

i like the concept but taking the time to do the first room every time made it feel like a chore, i got very unlucky and died like 4 times in a row haha. wish it was a little more fleshed out, seems like it has a lot of potential!

I wish there were more 'levels' because I beat it in my first turn!  I rolled a two, and the harlequin rolled a two and 'won'.  Would have loved to see a tournament with brackets and different wacky gamblers. Overall I like what you did!

Neat game, although I can't see Nintendo ever endorsing this lmao! Art and sound are very gameboy. P.S. love the ZombieByte logo

nice game but it took some time to understand the controlls

I like the concept.

As someone else noted, be nice if you used the save feature that GB  Studio has to allow you to just access the back area at anytime, but still fun idea and good play on the theme.

I didn't knew about the save feature in gb studio, It's the first game I make in gb studio haha I will definitely update it after the jam!

Thanks for playing I'm glad you enjoyed!

yup, its in the template program, esentially you just need to go to save data and just have it save, nothing else needs to be done. It really good.

I really like what you guys did here, really got me on the edge of my seat every time i rolled that darn dice XD.
My only issue is that i wish i every time i'd restart the game and try my luck at the roulette i didn't have to gamble all my money again and gain access to the table every single time i die.

Glad you enjoyed!

I will definitely  update the game after the jam to include that feature!

The cover art is very cool.

The game itself unfortunately didn't land for me. Considering that the first roll is entirely based on luck (since you have no money to buy items), and assuming there's a bullet randomly between the 1st and 6th shot of the gun each turn, this would mean there's a 58% chance to lose the game before being able to make a choice. It took me 8 attempts to even survive the first turn, and considering these numbers, you're going to be much more likely to win the moment you survive the first turn (due to the clown needing to take a turn, and now having money to buy items). Adding onto this, having to repeat the first section on every attempt.

For a game like this, I think giving each character 2 or 3 HP (similar to Buckshot Roulette which I assume this is based on), and starting with a budget that you have to survive on probably would've gone a long way to alleviate some of these frustrations.

you can actually get some cash if you talk to the clerk girl behind the desk after you get the Special Pass. But I kind of wanted to leave it a secret haha.
That said, everything you're saying was part of the original plan, but I got sick mid jam so I had to cut everything :/

Submitted(+1)

Sorry to hear that. It's cool there's a secret way to get cash, I kept looking around, but didn't think to ask the clerk behind the desk lol.

That was a neat story! A bit bare, but competent and creepy. I enjoy how uneasy the atmosphere is; the image of the firearm pointed at yourself is quite disturbing!

I really like the cover art — both the drawn and digitized versions.

Congratulations on the submission!

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you enjoyed!

Cover art was made by my brother, he's a great artist I'll be sure to let him  know :)

I survived the die! Great, simple idea and good execution. I liked your graphics—they were quirky and fun. It'd be great to have a way for the player to get back into the action faster when they "lose" the game instead of needing to go back to the start just to lose it all over again. Thanks for making and sharing your game!

thank you!!! :D
