it was amazing especially the music

Developer

Thank you so much for playing our game and for your kind words :)

Wow! I love this type of game , it reminds our submission; we share some similarities! Back to your game: I really like the characters, their hand-drawn look, the dialogues, and the story itself. It felt a bit easy to me, but that actually made it easier to see all the content. I also loved the map structure and the boss attack patterns.

PS: Your dialogue system looks amazing. I tried to achieve something similar in my game but didn’t quite get there. I’m planning to keep working on my jam game after the event, so i would ask if you could reach out on Discord and share a couple of tips on how  implement and style this kind of dialogs?

Developer

Thank you for playing our game, friend! I reached out to you on discord, always happy to chitchat. For any onlookers who are curious: we used Dialogic!

I really liked the game, and it was great to see the world, the music, and the entire package you managed to create in such a short time! Great work from everyone on the team!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing our game! We really appreciate your kind words :)

Fun story, nice characters and I love the general gameplay! Some of the rooms had me sweating and I like it for that. Great game, but the ending does make me feel like a baddie.. haha

Developer(+1)

That the player would question the morality and futility of Hazel’s actions was definitely something we had in mind when writing the world and cast of Loregrow! Don’t worry, she’ll get her comeuppance eventually :p

Thank you for playing our game and giving the story some thought, we really appreciate it.

I liked that there was story to it and the theme is cool ! the art is really lovely as well! congrats on submitting :))

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind words! Our team loves storytelling so we put that love right into the game itself :)

And I enjoyed your game too! Congrats on submitting!

Not to brag, but I only died like 11 times… Joking aside, I really liked this game. It was incredibly polished, the art is great, and I liked that I could adjust the audio—it was a little loud when I started, but it was really cool that you gave us the ability to change it. I also enjoyed the fun little lore and the overall contained story for a game.

PS. I appreciate that I didn’t have to start over after dying.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing our game and for your kind words! Retaining progress after death was a big priority for us, basically we wanted it so that if you were willing to keep at it you would eventually reach the end. So I’m glad you made it through :)

Artistically you outdid yourself with this for a game jam, incredible job!

Gameplay wise it was pretty simple but fun, though I may have liked some depth and a bit more of that artistic polish you applied in the story sequences within the main gameplay loop itself!

Great Job!!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! We are overjoyed to hear that you enjoyed the art of Loregrow, a lot of love went into it!

Had a great time with this one! I love the art and music and  how fully fleshed out it is with things like cutscenes and extensive menu options, and the story/world were really well developed and compelling for such a short timeframe! The controls felt a little awkward at times, but the rooms were laid out in a way that it wasn't ever frustrating

Developer

Thank you for your feedback and for playing our game! We love world building and stories and characters, so that was a huge priority for our team. We can’t wait to share more stories with everyone.

Submitted(+2)

What fun! I could honestly see this being a short cartoon or comic book.

Developer

Thank you! The storyboards for the opening cutscene were drafted as basically a comic book and adapted that way into the game with a simple transition. So it makes sense that it reads that way :)

Had a lovely time with this one. It nails the jam’s theme of Expansion in loads of clever ways, growing your abilities, taking back land, and watching Hazel gradually reclaim her power. It’s all paced in a way that keeps you hooked and makes every bit of progress feel properly earned.

The Autumn vibe runs through the whole thing too, from the colour palettes to the worldbuilding. Visually it’s a real treat. The pixel art’s full of character, the UI’s clear and tidy, and the whole thing just feels thoughtfully put together. Can really tell the team cared about the details. Cracking job all round.

Developer(+1)

Your kind words mean the world to our team. Thank you. We spent countless hours trying to make sure that we included the theme in overt and subtle ways and I’m glad that you noticed them. Ultimately thank you for playing our game. Truly!

Really appreciate you taking the time to reply. It is always great to hear when that kind of attention to detail pays off, and it absolutely did here. I know the feeling too! Spent countless hours crafting the melodic combo sounds for our rhythm game 😩 It’s definitely rewarding when people notice the little touches!

Wishing you and the team all the best with whatever comes next (hopefully more of this pls!). If you end up exploring more entries, I would love to hear what you think of mine.

Developer(+1)

You did PopRocks right? c0mputerbug is our team’s art director and your game was the first they played :)

I haven’t gotten around to it yet myself but I’ll heard it was great!

such a wholesome game, with a menu, credits, playtesters, music, art as well as an intro and cutscenes, and achievements! Congratulations to the team! I loved how you implemented EXPANSION in many simultaneous aspects! The idea with the different attacks and having to guess who is losing to what,  the expansion flying over water, new paths, not actually killing that fairy (unless it was a bug), the little scarecrow dudes having a chat, very nice details!

Developer(+1)

Our team loved your comment, thank you so much for playing our game! Our team had a blast working on Loregrow and honestly I’m very glad you gave a shoutout to the playtesters. They deserve more love!

Had to start a second run because I wasn't going to let the stickykeys popup be the enemy that took me out. Would be great if the skills activated while the keys were pressed instead of the mashing. It's uncomfortable and makes focusing on movement difficult. Or maybe that's just my own skill issue. Regardless. Love the world building and effort put into every aspect of the game. Wonderfully done.

Developer

I appreciate you giving it a chance! Thank you for your feedback, I’ve passed it onto the team :)

Woo hoo intro and outro cutscenes! Getting people into the game right off the bat! I would have really liked a way to aim the sword/magic attacks more, but I played all the way through to the end and beat the final boss! I like how each zone changes when you clear it.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you so much for playing our game to the end and for your kind words! Our artists worked very hard to have something players would enjoy and I’m glad you gave it a good shot!

I knew I was in for a good time the moment I saw the production value on the cut scenes! Excellent work!

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind words. I have to thank our talented cutscene artist for the storyboards and quick turnaround for that :)

Wow this is a crazy amount of content at a very high level of polish for such a short time! Very well done!

Really enjoyed the retro art and sound design. Lore and dialog was really solid too. I found the spell casting fun but was a little frustrated at times with the melee as I found it hard to hit the enemies without them hitting me back - could just be a skill issue though XD

Overall, fantastic job! My spacebar is now very angry with me

Developer(+1)

Thank you SO much for your kind words. Our team worked very hard to make sure that we had something we are proud of.

We’ll take your feedback and make sure that our next game is even better! :)

Nice one,  I felt the ambientation from the start of the splash screen with those custom animations.

I could feel that you are a team that works fine together, like a machine with the right amount of grease (as we say in spanish, don't know if it's the same in english xD), what you achieved in 9 days is impressive,  please keep on doing stuff, I hope we encounter each other again in the future!

the controls menu was a really good addition, by the way

I almost forgot, I have a suggestion: maybe adding a timer to the shoot/slash button, because I spammed it like a beast and slayed every enemy quite easily :)

p.d. if that was a jjk reference, I respect it xD

Good job!

Muchas gracias por su tiempo mi amigo! :)

Nuestro equipo somos amigos en persona, entonces sabemos como trabajar juntos jajaja

Otra vez gracias por su tiempo y por jugar nuestro juego!

Thank you for playing our game :)

We love telling stories and writing characters on our team, so even though it’s not a requirement it helps motivate us! Once again thank you for your comment and time!

Very beautiful art! I'm not very good at that kind of game but I enjoyed it! Well done as it seems pretty complete for a 9 days game.
