How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
Getting laid off is unlucky, wouldn't you say?

That was cute! I enjoyed the conflict between personal satisfaction and sunk-cost living, and I'm glad I saw it through to where it ends.

The biggest problem by far is the instability of the various coffee steps. I had to reset four times after each of the steps got stuck, probably because I transitioned to either the front desk or the recipe screen.

All-in-all, good work! Congratulations on the submission!

Welp never knew I play a food making game on the GB, but I did.
The ending was hillarious. Love the meta comedy.

Very silly and sweet.
Also how your game also has a coffee theme.

overall a fun little game and a nice start. Going solo on a jam has a lot of challenges. There are two things I’ve found helpful to make sure I get entries in with music.

Recently, I’ve started outsourcing some of the music. There’s a lot of people that want to be part of making a game but don’t want to do it all alone. Find some folks to team up with and it takes a lot of pressure off, especially if you’re new to Trackers or Music in general.

When I’m going solo I usually start working on a song the first day, with something very simple that loops nicely, it doesn’t have to be long or complex. Then the rest of the jam I just need to make little tweaks or work on more music. From there it’s also easy to copy and make iterations of your main track.

The graphics are cute but could use some embellishment. I really liked the actor sprites for all the equipment in the cafe. I’m a bartender so a game about making drinks is pretty relatable. Cafes tend to be really tight spaces, at least behind the counter. Moving some of the actors closer together might help ad to that stressful feeling of working in a crowded cafe.

I noticed on the walk to the cafe the cars appear to move backwards due to the parallax scrolling. An easy fix for this in GB Studio would be to you use 2 separate rooms, one for going to work and one for going home. If you revers the background image it will make it look like the traffic is moving in the player direction.

The fourth wall break at the end was fun, you got a laugh out of me, some self aware humor always helps.

I thought this was a cute game and a good start. I did encounter a bug where it seems I couldn't hand the coffee to the customer, but I did enjoy the narrative. Losing your job is indeed unlucky.

Good game, good narrative!

I enjoyed it! Was a cute little experience. Suited the theme well. The only unrealistic part was that you got offered a barista job at all haha

Cool beans, loved the scenery, nice use of parallax.

I tried putting in 2 scoops of ground coffee in the coffee maker and it got stuck making coffee. Other than that it was nice

I liked the palette change to make the night scene outside. I managed to brew a coffee, but I couldn't hand it to the customer. Still, I liked the story and found the design of the coffee shop owner very funny :)

I don’t see a game — how did the others manage it?

I goofed up the itch settings on the browser dimensions. It is fixed now!

Can't play the game

Sorry about that, should be fine now. Thanks for letting me know.

I enjoyed the slice of life style, but I ended up with a similar problem as PolyB.  But hey, I brewed a Coffee and thought it was pretty fulfilling :)

This game was really neat. I actually really enjoyed the slice-of-life narrative approach, and grew to really like the character I played as. The simplicity of the tasks actually made for a really relaxing experience.

The narrative has a good start with introducing the idea of thinking about what makes someone happy in life rather than just having a job. I was a little confused at first when going through the screen transitions since I didn't know exactly where I was right after leaving my apartment for the first time (in the lobby I believe).

I ended up in what feels like a bugged state where I had fully brewed a drink before initiating the next customer. When going to the customer I got the "I should make this person a drink" message and when I tried to brew another coffee at that point I would see the "You're already carrying coffee" message so I couldn't progress after day 2 or so of the narrative.
