With this track, I decided to give the rat a more negative characterization as opposed to a positive one.
To me, his appearance leaves room open for both negative and positive connotations.
I didn't make him a student in my lore, perse, but I did have him self-identify as a "student of science."
The track was mostly designed to portray his inflated ego.
Lore:
"This track was created for a music jam. It is a character theme.
Squeak, also known as Squeaka, is a teacher and a self-proclaimed student of science. He is not short on ego, is rather rude, and carries himself with a boastful, persnickety attitude.
Squeak supplies the party with gadgets, offers side quests, and even joins them at a few points in the adventure. Despite his uncouthfulness, he does prove to be sufficiently reliable.
He's also probably a murderer."
Some facts about Squeak:
He's an obnoxious little twat who thinks highly of himself.
He calls people that he dislikes nerds, because refer to that above.
He loves cheese. So much so that, under the right circumstances, he would commit homicide over cheese.
He carries around a stick. He uses this to beat nerds. (Those that he hates.)
He possibly killed someone once, although this person was cool, so they're probably a cool ghost now.
I kept with my commitment to composing in an F scale. This time in F Octatonic (W-H).

Last words
In The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker, the zora canonically evolved into the rito. This means that even if the fish win, the birds still win, in the end.

I love the melodic instrument. Its little short staccato notes fit the rat well. From 0:58, the little added sounds also fit surprisingly well.
The little speedups actually fit quite well too for some reason! Maybe because it's a rat and it sounds like he is speeding off or something. Not sure why, but it fits!
Overal, the song fits the guy surprisingly well and sounds nice too! Really cool entry :D
What a sound design! The panning is great, it's worth listening to with headphones to enjoy the excellent stereo sound. You've handled the limited number of instruments really well. Your music remains rich despite this constraint.
You're one of the most creative jammers in terms of sound, and it's always a pleasure to listen to your creations.
And I see that you continue to draw inspiration from Libra's Theme for the tempo variations.
(Excellent backstory by the way, and well done for managing to incorporate Ghool into your story)
Thanks!
The challenge actually made the track a little easier than usual because the mixing/mastering phase wasn't as stressful as it usually is, haha. Most of my songs have a lot of layering going on and a lot of sounds, and during the mixing/mastering phasing, things can get muddled and I have to be careful, and it can be annoying haha. Sometimes, I have to restart.
Most tracks of mine have roughly 20-30 different audio channels.
And, yeah . . . I've really gotten into dabbling in tempo automation, haha.
Sounds interesting, like something I haven’t heard before. I really enjoyed it.
Real villainous sound, love it, it definitely fits with the character.
I didn't expect all the tempo changes in the song! That's a great touch, I really liked that. I also loved your interpretation of the character, differentiates a lot your track from others, and fits your explanation very well. I also liked how minimalistic it sounds, great job!
Your interpretation of Squeak as a character is really interesting to read (largely because it was very different from mine), but I really like how much lore you detailed. I think this is all conveyed really well in your track. The electric drum kit sounds like a video game science lab and the light percussive melodic elements with a mysterious and deceitful sound describe the dubious and narcissistic nature of Squeaka well. One thing I particularly like about this track that I did not do in mine is that you have plenty of variation, but the entire loop has a similar dynamic and energy level which I think works particularly well for character themes and allows them to fade in and out and loop without being distracting when you are with the character in the game. Despite this, it is still a memorable theme. Great job with this! Thank you for sharing!
