I love the animation - Morgan's expressiveness is so adorable!!! The music and voice sound effects fit really well too :)
I had fun figuring out how to animate the expressions :D Thank you so much!
I love Morgan's animation!! 😁
The game fits the theme perfectly and it's a nice story!
Gameplay wise, it's hard to know what choice to make and when to make it.
After losing 5 times I just ignored studies to reach the ending ^^
And I guess the shop wasn't implemented in time because everything was sold out ?
Good job!
I appreciate the feedback! Yeah, I had ideas for items the player could use but didn’t have enough time to implement ^^’ Thank you for playing!
Very nice work! The game has almost no flaws, and I really like the art.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback :)
:O! THAT ENDING! I took it as Morgan passed and it made me feel so many different things.
I kept moving the slider bars but I'm not sure if it did anything? I resonated with the player being so easily distracted. I stayed single the whole time and didn't buy anything. It's like real life
Thank you for sharing your interpretation of the ending! It’s been interesting seeing people’s reactions to it :O
The sliders are a bug. It amuses me that the progress bars ended up that way, but oh well. There is a route where your relationship status changes if you’re curious :)< But don’t let me pressure you into getting into a relationship. Society does that enough!
Super game! Very nice story!
Some minigames might have been nice but it was fun to play.
Thank you! I agree that it would have been nice to mix the gameplay up a little haha Glad you still found it fun!
Absolutely beautiful game, really well done! Was so locked in from start to finish, thanks for sharing this!
Thank you so much!! I’m glad the game was engaging for you :)
I got the true ending and tears in my eyes… The story is so beautiful and wow, the meta level of the theme integration - a game about making a game for a game jam! Morgan feels so alive with all the animations and dialogues.
spoiler text (click to reveal)
(I hope he’s still.. well.. alive…..)Great work on the art and music; it adds so much to the atmosphere. I also thought I was too lazy to read visual novels, but here I enjoyed reading it - the lines were so smooth and easy to digest. Great job! I enjoyed playing the game a lot.
Your reaction to the game means so much to me. Thank you <3
*SPOILERS* (I can't figure out how you did that spoiler text XD)
In my headcanon, Morgan's technically not alive. They can't exist outside of the game itself. The script meant to hint that they're a self-aware video game character that knew their dev-written fate (parting ways with the player, but not necessarily dying haha
Ohh, I see! I actually had a feeling that Morgan might be some meta level character guiding you on that path, but my mind likes to jump to the worst conclusions lol. It was still so tearful to part ways with him, haha. Thanks for the answer!
P.S. that spoiler text thing was hard to get right; I spent some time googling, deleting, and rewriting my comment :D
I liked the game! I liked the interactivity with the different actions you could do, and the sound bites you nabbed from HG streams/videos for the meditation. As someone who doesn't really do visual novels, I liked the fact that you immediately put a framework in for what to expect from the game from start to end so that I knew kind of where I was in the timeline of the game. I like how you're sharing the experience with Morgan throughout the length of the game, and at the same time, the ending felt very out of left field and unprompted. (I'm talking about the true ending, I don't know how many endings there are or how different it is from the other endings because I just played once.) Also IDK if it actually worked but I could manually adjust the sliders for studying and production with my mouse, and I think that progress remained in the bar. Overall, I enjoyed it!
Really appreciate the thoughtful feedback! Point well-taken on the ending. The events were meant to draw from the Game Jam themes, but I see that without that context, it comes out of the blue. Also, what an odd bug you found with the progress bars, I'll have to look into what happened there with the code. Thank you so much for playing and sharing your experience!
Very high attention to detail! and a lot of Dr K references.
I enjoyed the persona style time management.
Actually the first time I have seen renpy game in a Jam, there are saves too
Great work!
Wow, thank you! Glad you enjoyed the time management aspects. I've been meaning to play the persona games since they look like ones I'd enjoy. I'll take your comment as a sign to get on that haha
It's funny and the art is really good! Well done
Much appreciated, Robb! I loved reading your story posted in the Game Jam discord channel. I would have never guessed that Ruby's Resolve was your first game with how excellent it was. Thank you so much for persevering and bringing that part of yourself to the community, developing a game that's been fun for so many. I look forward to supporting your future work!
Aww thanks! I really liked your game too! It has so much personality and I love that!
To be honest I’ve been picking up and putting down the Godot engine for about a year but never finished anything… until now! That’s why it’s a significant moment for me. It also gave me an opportunity to connect with my sister who lives thousands of miles away now. I’m so excited for the possibilities and the people we will meet!
I’ll follow you back, and look forward to seeing your future projects as well!
I really like the idea of making the game about the game jam itself, and its a nice touch to use the hg blobs and audio snippets from the channel in the game itself. Was pretty relaxing and I had fun playing, even though i failed miserably at completing any of the goals xD
Oh gosh, that's on me for programming randomness for the success rolls. :P If you have trouble getting the True Ending, a Search for Love might get you there. (That activity leads to a linear dialogue path rather than RNG) Glad you found the game relaxing! I appreciate the comment!
Cool game, but i keep getting the bad ending aaaa... I tried but just studying/coding and putting in bits of meditation, but it's not working... I guess you're supposed to go all in on one choice?
Yeah, try to prioritize coding over studying! Search for Love also increases your chances of getting the True Ending when you go down that path :)<
Hahaha I saw the dating app thing and never clicked on it again...
Love the meditation sound bites lmao
Lol, yes. They're from my most listened to Dr. K meditation/yoga videos!
I love the artwork! The blob is really cute and the expressions are really nice. Very meta plotline, great job :)
I was going for cute, so I'm glad to hear that! And very meta indeed haha Thank you for playing!
Such a well thought out game, and the art is top notch!
Aw, thank you so much!
Love the vibe! Artwork and music are great!!
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback!!
IS MORGAN DEAD IN THE TRUE ENDING?
Anyways, I like this game a lot! The script really resonated with me, especially the copy-paste process and the typos in programming and stuff. I also grabbed the old HG Tube music from the channel and put it at the end of my game. That music is really good.
Thank you for playing and leaving feedback! I also relate a lot with the programming lines (which is why I included them lol) My brother asked the same thing about Morgan ^^' I say the ending is up to interpretation, but my headcanon is that they are not dead.
