How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
You play as the world’s worst and unluckiest cop, the only one able to decipher the Unlucky-Aliens’ hieroglyphs made of universal symbols of misfortune. Their cursed puzzles spread bad luck across Earth, and only by solving them can you stop the disaster. SudoGlyphics recreates the classic Game Boy look, complete with dithering, a limited grayscale palette, and a yellow police-tape border. Authentic controls complete the experience: move with the D-pad, confirm with A (Enter), and erase with B (Spacebar). Definitely not recommended for the superstitious.

That's some crunchy music.
The controls are weird, but the graphics are cool and the mechanics are neat.
The highlight trigger was super helpful. I never expected to play sudoku in this jam! Great job, and I think you've come up with a puzzle that's quite difficult, so I'm going to have to come back and finish it out when it's not so late at night!
So glad you're keen to finish it. Thanks for playing and for weighing in!
Great idea to take the concept of Sudoku and evolve it to fit this jam’s theme! The controls were very intuitive. I’ve solved quite a few Sudoku puzzles in my life, but this one was quite challenging. The hieroglyphs made it much harder. I enjoyed playing as the world’s worst cop and also the worst Sudoku solver :D
Thanks so much for playing and for the awesome comment!
its amazing how much harder sudoku becomes with pictures instead of numbers! the in game feedback was good though with the highlighted placed symbols. I think it would have been good to have that when selecting your symbol at the top as well, because I was definitely getting a bit lost. nice work
Thanks for your comment, you're right, it would have been a good idea to include that I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
It's a nifty way of playing with Sudoku. I got a bit lost towards the end of the puzzle and ended up falling short due to being tired in late hours, but I can attest that the similar symbol highlights whenever you're over a given symbol were super helpful in-game feedback to run through my logic easier.
Thanks a lot for your comment! ☺️ I’m glad the highlight feature helped that was the idea.
The concept is great, and the sprites are also very nice. I wish the in-game controls were clearer. Since most games use keys like J K or X Z, I had to go to the description to even realize I needed to press Enter.
Thanks so much for your comment! ☺️ You're absolutely right, most games use keys like J, K, or X. In my case I used Enter and Space because those keys are very common for this type of control on Spanish keyboards. In future games I’ll keep this in mind and let players customize the controls.
A funny idea, but I wasn’t able to place a symbol. Am I doing something wrong?
You should use enter, first on the symbol and then in the cell where you want to place it.
