Very nice work! Feels pretty good to play. If you have the time, please check out the game that I worked on Rate Write That Down by ElementalPenguin for Jamsepticeye - itch.io
Nice work, especially for a newer developer! Has a good amount of polish already :)
Love the little animations that you put in like the deck shining. Hope to see more cool things you thought about being implemented that are noted in your game page!
As a person who loves playing this game IRL, I really enjoyed playing this game as well! The graphics are also really nice!
this was fun i love the concept and i love gambling has the potential to be really good.
Thanks for playing!
Yeah, I wanted to add the ability to bet my own chips. I will probably revisit this
For sure man i see the potential for a balatro type game but black jack all you need is a roguelike element and then boom you have an addictive loop. Much love and keep it up.
very good style and interface in general
Nice polish on the gameplay! I had an issue though where the cards were very small on my large screen no matter my browser tab zoom size.
I like the theme! I think Blackjack is a bit tricky for this kind of progression though, as losing 3 times in a row (two lives and the dealer hand) is not at all uncommon - and in fact, I found the optimal strategy was just bust out at the start until you get a winning death hand and then you can "start your run."
Instead of lives, it might be interesting to start with a large chip stack, enabling some losing runs, and incorporate the "death hand" after x losses? Just some quick thoughts. Nice work for your first jam, I like the card art and music too!
Thank you! Sorry for the small cards I tried to look into how to make a responsive interface, but yeah I didn't get very far.
I really like that idea. Initially, I wanted the game to revolve around the chips, starting with a stack of chips and the idea being to steal the dealer's chips . You could even bet your own chips to steal more by beating the dealer or even asking death for a favor to get more chips, but due to time and knowledge constraints, I settled on a simpler theme of lives.
Clean, well made version of 21! I like the approach to the theme, but man that time limit is killer. It would be cool to see some of the other features you mentioned, so you should definitely continue exploring this!
Thanks for playing!
fun card game
