i like this!! its a nice twist on the 'you die, but it assists you' platformer ive been seeing!! the animations and the art is super charming too :)

silxsong with evolution! Great idea, the opponents' movements are too abrupt, as if there's a lack of a swing stage, but it's really hard to do it correctly. Otherwise, it's a great game (please rate our game)

I liked the visuals awesome assets it was very fun and impressive. Top marks lol could you check my game for me too :)

I just have to say how much I loved the little sea cucumber worms!! They were so adorable!! I enjoyed playing the game but having to walk back to the boss every time I died was really annoying.

Wow, this was fantastic! The artwork and animations were great all around, both the backgrounds and death animations and the delightful running animation haha. I am thoroughly impressed. And from the start the music really raised the experience! Not to mention the gameplay, it was very fun. The rate of progression felt very skillfully crafted, too! I felt like I got just far enough each time to know what I wanted to upgrade next. It's fun that different routes in skill upgrades seem equally viable - I almost completely ignored the dash, put my first upgrades in attack, then some movement speed, and after reaching the beetle I decided to go for as much jump height as I could after maxing my attack, which seems completely different from another rater's strategy. This is very impressive, I hope you're proud of what you managed to create in such a short time. :)

Was really fun! Was cool to choose my upgrade on death instead of it just being automatic

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

The character design, art style and music is awesome!

I am also very bad at this game XD It's a good thing that death is an opportunity!

Developer

Very good thing! XD Thanks for playing!

Very much hollow knight inspired and I love it, making the character stronger with each death is smart and on theme. Good work :)

Developer

You know it! I finally beat Hollow Knight for the first time about a week after Silksong released. And finally got past act 1 not too long ago! So that style has been on the brain! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

I loved the mechanic that allows me to improve my characteristics every time when I die. I think it was very creative and helpful. Especially in the fight with the final boss, cause it helped me improve every time. It was very satisfying when I could go thru the entire game practically without damage. Also, Dash at 5 allowed and high jumps with strong attacks made me feel superhuman in comparison to how I started. Love it! 10 bully beetles out 10!

Developer

Thank you!

Absolutely loved the game and the art! It fit the game jam theme perfectly too. It was challenging enough to feel rewarding. I usually get frustrated easily in those kinds of games, but being able to improve your skills as you die made it fun instead. Overall, it was amazing!

Developer

Awesome! Thank you!

Really impressed by the animations, art,  and polish on the game. Concept fits the theme well too. Restarting every mistake was tough, but lucky I got some of that dark souls payoff after beating the big beetle. Also, getting new music tracks constantly was nice.

Developer

I figured hearing the same music over and over would have gotten tiring. Thanks for playing! And congrats on beating it!

It took a while but I finally did it!! Thank you for making this :)

Hey congrats!! Glad you liked it!

Matched the game jam theme well! I am terrible at platformers so I didn't get far, however I liked the visuals and music!

I wish the dash did damage, however apart from that, super cool!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! Ya, platformers can be kind of rough. Silksong was the inspiration for this game. Having to play any platformer on mouse and keyboard also sucks! XD

Took me a few tries, but I finally beat that big bad beetle boss! I had more deaths trying to get to the boss due to landing on the enemies from drops or just the insta deaths from the hazards xD

Developer(+1)

I will admit some of the enemy placement was pretty mean, but I felt like it all kind of fit the game's ideals. XD Great job beating the boss!
