This was awesome, I loved the variety of levels. The ghost of the lander showing where it'll end up is a great idea. The gameplay took me back to KSP days. Good job
Cool and fun game! A bit nerve-wrenching to time flying and landing :) Great physics game.
This is one of the coolest takes on a platformer/flight sims i've ever played. Only thing i could say is add models for the platforms i.e. asteroids/proper space station landing platforms for the goals.
A very elaborate and lovingly crafted take on the classic moon lander genre. It takes it into a whole another dimension.
I just wanted to try it for 5 minutes but ended up sinking over an hour into it and I still have it loaded as I write this. I'm saying this as someone whose thin nerves are completely incompatible with realistic unforgiving gravity controls. I managed to the end of second section with vertical levels. I have high hopes for finishing it, but not sure my sanity agrees :)
Excellent job. I love when someone takes a forgotten 80s classic and raises all of its aspect to the nth power. This is a Crossy Road of moon landers. I'd just love it to have a baby physics mode for the members of the international nervous community :)
Yeah, one of my first goals was to have "realistic unforgiving gravity controls" - so I'm glad that you felt it.
You can tune the "help" but maybe it's not impactful enough.
Good luck!
I really appreciate your kind words., thanks.
>Yeah, one of my first goals was to have "realistic unforgiving gravity controls"
I know. It totally shows.
I guess it wouldn't be a proper moon lander if that wasn't the goal. So I'm backing down my request for baby physics mode :D
"I'd just love it to have a baby physics mode for the members of the international nervous community" -> I agree with that :D
LOL. I'm glad I'm not alone in this.
That game caught me instantly, because it reminded me on Ufo Joe a flash game which was way more casual, but a game I really liked (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsN4cDH7U-E).
The controls and the gameplay are super fun and you have created a lot of levels too. So I might come back to complete them all! The music suits well. I cannot think of any real improvement in terms of gameplay. For me it's quite fun as it is. IMO you can polish some visual aspects like replacing the platform models with something more fitting or improve the UI here and there.
But all in all this is just a great experience! Thanks :)
I'm glad that the game caught you;) I didn't expect it!
Ah, there is probably a tone of similar games, and I designed it to be hard but good looking.
I'm looking forward to the final table with all levels completed...
Thank you too.
This is well done. It is simple, but does a decent job of conveying what is needed. The controls were simple and easy to learn. It would be nice to see the thrust from the main engine, similar to the RC thrusters showing, but the bar at the bottom does give you enough feedback to play. It might also be worth considering adding a fuel gauge for the RC thrusters, perhaps as a difficulty option. I found myself using RC thrusters to save on fuel. It may not provide lift, and can be slower, costing time, but it does provide a nice amount of movement and was very useful.
Sound may not propagate through space, but if you are supposed to be inside controlling the vessel, then the sounds of the engines, and impacts, should propagate through the ship. Was a nice way to say there are no Sound FX though.
Ah ah, you got me! I initially made the "no sound in space" as a joke - and I didn't consider having cockpit sounds; that's a great idea actually ...
Yes, I removed the main engine exaust display due to a few issues. That's something I could improve in the future (including the RC-thrusters that are a bit "hacky")
You're a pro ; I already find the game challenging, but I can tweak the RC strength indeed.
Thanks a lot!
Really impressive that you built this in your own engine, the credits say you did everything yourself? The music was a standout for me, I really enjoyed it. I played in-browser and didn’t notice any performance issues on my end. One small thing: I’ve got a large monitor and the game window felt a bit cramped. If there’s a fullscreen option for the web version, I couldn’t find it.
Thanks a lot!
Yes, I also did the music, using a synthetizer that I have at home.
Good to know that the perfs were good. You can toggle the full-screenwith the "F" key ; it's shown at the top right. But I think I can add the hint in the "settings" panel too.
Thanks, I got much further in the game with F. It's obvious once you see it in the upper right, but I did not until you pointed it out.
