We'd love to play your game! In return, come check out Dreamers Dilemma! It's a beautifully hand drawn beat-em-up with tons of original characters, creatures, and backgrounds! Plus, it was made for my birthday, so you know lots of love was poured into it! Let us know your favorite part, and enjoy! /jam/jamsepticeye/rate/3937781

Have to say love your profile photo, will play your game now. Hand drawn and beat-em-up, yes pleaseeee. Looking forward to it :))

Submitted(+1)

Happy Birthday btw!! I love the art and the game is so fun and the vibe is so goofy (thats a good thing). I laughed out loud multiple times and just had fun beating up everyone lmaoo. I would say all you need to do to improve this is to add more fighting mechanics. Awesome jobb

Submitted

Thank you so much! We're so glad you like it, and we totally planned on adding more attacks before running out of time! We might revisit it in the future, though ;p

Have fun! <3

Thanks <3 playing it now

This game is more fun than it should be lmaoo. I had a lot of fun messing around and going through the options. The art style is unique but it might be a bit too pixelated. The sounds is also iffy at times. I enjoyed the game just have those 2 nit picks.

Submitted

So glad you enjoyed it!

We're also enjoying playing everyone's games. Do you know how many you've gotten through by chance (just curious)?

I'll play & rate yours right now! Here's ours:

Writing as I play:

- Love the main menu, so much character already

- Ohhhh the music is fire

- Didn't see the amount of energy, I recommend moving it top left

- Does moving two blocks take away 2 Energy ?

- You can attack yourself?

- oh that makes for upgrades, wow!!

- ooh skeleton just dies ahahaha

- Attack yourself should be another button imo, and cancel is just clicking the character that's active

- Played 3 rounds, had so much fun... good job, I'm not into strategy games, but I can see myself playing this alot if it fully comes out.

Submitted

That is great feedback, thank you! We are very likely continuing it post-jam (seems our other/bigger project that was almost done will need to be put on hold for a bit).

I did try to play yours yesterday and Windows kept deleting it, seems like it's fine now, nice! I'll give yours a go right now!

Submitted

No pressure tbh, I think alot of people just have this issue (we downloaded games and windows deleted them too), there is a fix where you zip the files using a specific program to digitally sign it, we did that and I think we're clear!!

Submitted

Oh, that makes sense. I'll have to look into that. It seems it worked as I was actually able to play yours now! In any case good luck in the jam!

Submitted

I love a good puzzle game. Definitely gonna check your game out.
We made a short and silly little game:
/jam/jamsepticeye/rate/3937843

Submitted

it is indeed very silly

Writing as I play:
- Godot (the goat)

- For some reason the game is not full screen (windows 10), not a problem though

- Back button doesn't work after opening your phone and pressing Instructions

- Love the style

- Music reminds me of old flash games (very fun)

- The honk is funny + I would've loved if it matched input instead of playing a sound, like when I stop holding [space] -> it stops.

- The beach glitched the game out, but it's fine cuz it resets after a moment

- Fishing mini-game needs to be alittle forgiving, or maybe I need to get gud

- Overall Very fun, and I really enjoyed my time

Submitted (1 edit)

Thank you for the detailed feedback!
- Yeah this is my first game and I just kinda went with Godot (I've very briefly touched UE5 but there was no shot I was going to try making my first IN A GAME JAM in UE5). It turned out to be an ok choice.. other than the fact that I made the mistake of also going with the C# version (with no C# experience either) which meant we couldnt do a web build in the end :(

- Yeah unfortunately I didn't quite work out all the window settings before submission and I didnt count it as game breaking enough to fix.
- I am aware of the back button issue but havent fixed it as its not game breaking (I straight up forgot to link it to the script call)
- Thank you so much! My 3 artists worked very hard on all the assets during the jam.
- We had a look through some royalty free music and found the ones we thought best matched each area :)
- OOh I like the honk suggestion. I'll probably do that post jam!
- Yeah, less a glitch more a didn't have the time to add more colliders for the map boundaries.
- The fishing minigame is heavily RNG based with each round having tighter/less forgiving ranges for the potential speed and wait time between moving for the fish. It was the fastest way I could think of implementing it while also parametrising it so that I could (post jam) adjust the difficulty.

Thank you again so much for the detailed feedback I really appreciate it <3

Submitted

Godot is actually really good (from what we've seen, we use Unity), and I'm actually glad that you didn't decide to try out UE5 for a Jam, cuz I think it would've been harder to actually finish a game in time

-C# seems fine to me but I think you mean "GodotScript" --I think it's called that-- is maybe simpler, which is unfortunate... however I think C# is a really good programming language

- Good job to all 3 artists, you did really well <3

Submitted

So theres actually a version of Godot that has C# scripting which interacts through their API system. I used this version instead of just going with GodotScript because I thought to myself "well either way im learning a whole engine and a whole scripting language so ill go with C# since its actually a language rather than something specifically for Godot". Unfortuantely yeah Godot currently doesnt support web builds if you used C# instead of GDscript :(

I have a cool game! /jam/jamsepticeye/rate/3937246

Writing as I play:

- Very funny game so far, love the tree just walks to hit you

- Death reminds me of Brook which imo Is a good thing

- Which there was a pause and volume buttons

- Oh the game's Profile picture and screenshots Need to show more, cuz seeing it from outside doesn't really give me the initial reaction of "this game is going to be funny", just add a little more on the main Image and it should be fine

- Enter feeling was bugged, I had to restart -> BUT WOW THATS FUNNY

- Voice acting is A+ Good job -> "Guesssing Tiiiime"

- Guessing text up top is a little unclear

- Overall really cool game,  I'm enjoying it way to much, voice acting is seriously impressive!!

Hello hello! Wanted to ask if you've played our lil detective speakeasy cat game? Guaranteed to have a swingin' time! :3

A Cat-astrophic Case!

Ok, writing as I play:

- Absolutely adore the UI, we've seen screenshots of it on discord while the jam was on, and HHHOOLY it's so professional

- Love that the music and sfx settings are lowered by default haha (we did that too)

- On windows 10, only full-screen windowed, doesn't ruin anything... just leaving you some feedback

- the first text "you wake up in a body..." didn't have a chance to read it

- Oooh voice acting, didn't expect that

- LOVE the 3D artstyle, one of the most coherent we've seen, doesn't match the style of the UI but I think with enough time it 100% match it.

- I love how the ghost is just chilling at the corner

- No access to settings while playing, cuz subtitles don't work and I wanted to check settings

- Encoutered a bug where both speak at the same time, cuz I pressed [E] to grandma when she waas speaking

- game lacks gameplay at the start, feels like listening to a long cutscene

- Characters look out of place, however with the limited time we had... you all did a GREAT JOB!!!!

- Really enjoyed playing this game, I've wanted to check it out for the longest time, and I'm glad I did.

- Voice acting is awesome

Thank you so much for the review comments, these will be really helpful for our growth!! I'll make sure to pass these on to the team, happy you enjoyed it!! :3

Writing as I play:

- Didn't really get why people have do that; to start the game, not actually a big deal... but interesting

- Love the splash screen

- "Kid mode" that's gotta be one of the best accessibility option we've seen in this jam

- Pixel art is super clear [animations and movement] even though it's not detailed, highly love this

- Bro just died from slipping ahahaha

- the font doesn't match the game's art (Don't want to sound nitpicky) but it's fine cuz the game look stunning

- Wow it's polished

- LOVE THE DIALOUGE, also love the tone change

- "Am I really dead?" "Yeah sorry about that" ahahahah

- No pause menu is unfortunate

- Traumatized that old man tbh

- LOVED THIS GAME GREAT JOB!!!

Thank you very much! really appreciate the feedback and very glad you enjoyed it!

Unfortunately, We both are having issues downloading your game, we'll solve it and be able to try it hopefully soon, in the meantime we would love to hear some feedback on our game...

I got back to it! The game is really good. I love the concept and the physics, they are done perfectly as well as the levels. If the game gets an art upgrade (background to match character and enemies) then it'll be perfect. The sound, animations and character art are really good and such a unique style. The game is quite polished too so good job on it.

I hope to see you expand on it in the future as this game has lots of potential. Thanks for recommending your game.

HOLYY CRAPPPP WHAT A GAME. This is the first game to jumpscare me. I had to pause the game and take a breather hahahahha. I'm about to continue it now, so far it's wonderful -> very polished, very beautiful and an amazing concept.

Wow.. just wow. The gameplay is phenomenal -> I don't usually play these types of games but I swear I'd play a full version of this quite often. Maybe the loop is a bit repetitive rn but that's to be expected, it's a game jam. If you can add lots of variation and "levels" this can actually get really big and become similar to FNAF.

I have nothing bad to say about the game, lots of care and detail were put in (like the flashlight lagging behind a bit). You guys did a phenomenal job, hopefully Jacksepticeye and Ducky Dev get to play this, I highly recommend everyone check this out. Not only did I enjoy the game, my team mate also enjoyed watching. This is pure content and very streamer friendly.

The art and sound are beautiful. What would make this game even better is to make it more stylised and less generic -> the game might look too much like Unreal Engine rn  and the hotel looks a bit too much like a normal generic hotel but for a game jam. This is definitely top 3 if not the top game we played. Such unique and fun gameplay.

In the future I would love to see more variation, more scenarios, more "moods/conditions". Thank you for this experience and I hope you guys continue building upon the game after the jam.

EDIT: wanted to add that the game is not only fun and scary, it is actually really funny. I love "talking" to the dolls and it's really funny to watch. The way the dolls died too are really funny and creative. Love the way the game progressively gets harder as it goes as well - amazing design.

Writing as I play:

- Is there no description about this game, or maybe I can't find it

- There has been a lot of submissions with the same idea -> leave body around to help you, but this stands out a lot

- The lack of "coyote time" makes it hard to make jumps, or maybe it's there and I'm not noticing it

- Like the music, I don't think it fits, but it does the job

- Love that holding undo make the last mistake go away, not all of them, which is a really nice touch

- Jumping sound could be lowered a little, or give the player sound options

- The End of the level could be a little clearer, and the obstacles a little easier at the start

- Overall I think you nailed a lot of things and I hope to see this get polished more in the future

I'll try your game later on too!

Submitted

You don't have to try our game, however we would like some feedback!!

Anyways I'll write as I play:

- WOW THAT MUSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC what!!!!!!!

- THE MENU IS SUPPER POLISHED

- One of my favs already

- Would've loved a pause option (I'm on web player)

- [Hold Left mouse button to keep shooting] Would've been nicer, instead of clicking a ton.

- Love that you're able take the powers of whoever killed you

- Difficulty need to be tweaked, cuz no matter what you're gonna die which felt a bit forced

- I have 3 weapons, how do I use the third, cuz LMB for first and RMB for second!!?? [Update] It's [E] wow!!

- Don't know about the enemy health not being visible, because idk if every enemy has the same health or what?

- Overall I loved this game, good job to everyone envolved!!

Writing as I play:

- Love the Main menu and the music, reminds me ALOT of SIFU!!

- The starting text goes by fast, just leave it on screen and add [Space] to cycle to the next one [UPDATE] you already do this with dialouge, nice!!

- Love the little paws!! they clip through the 3D space, and we know why cuz we had this issue too hahaha

- THE ATMOSPHERE is crazy!!!

- Projectiles are kinda hard to see

- Some areas are too dark, maybe you could improve light baking a little, or add a brightness options like we did

- I can see the shadow is a capsule hahahah, funny but also not game breaking

- So far don't really know the point of the gun

- Oh there is running, maybe make it clearer visually or with sound, or change of FOV + Reloading is not clear too.

- Overall Loved the atmosphere and the style of this game, congrats to everyone involved, and good luck :)

thanks for the super useful feedback glad you enjoyed it, il forward this to my team. Il definitely get around to your game when I get back home

First things I noticed

Main Menu:

  • THIS MAIN MENU SLAPSSS - the face following the mouse is a nice touch that sets the vibe
  • Very cool logo and art I love it.
  • The music is good but does not loop - slight oversight doesn't affect game quality.

Gameplay:

  • The cutscenes are done very well and get me immersed. They fit very well.
  • Cute easter egg when u run to the left at the start, I like stuff like this, shows care and passion.
  • I love the art.
  • The sounds are very nice.
  • The game is designed in a way that makes it easy to learn - no lack of clarity at all.
  • The death mechanic is cool and unique, Its done very well too. Great job on matching the theme. The only thing about the mechanic is I wish the ghost didn't rise as much because I'm trying to complete the game with as less deaths as possible and when I die in a  position I have to account that my ghost block will rise a bit. This is a small tweak that will improve QoL and its really not a big thing that undermines the rest of the game so dw.
  • The physics are very nice - love that when u rise on a ghost and jump u go higher - makes sense and gives the player movement tech.
  • Love that u added the fishbone collectible although I have no idea how to get it and advance rn -> optional difficulty is great in this type of video game -> very good design choice.
  • The game is very polished, from the death fade scene to the movement to everything -> one of the most polished games I've played so far.

Overall amazing job - I have nothing bad to say about the game. The movement isn't bad but maybe it can be improved with more time and more mechanics can be added. Very good base - you should build upon the game after the jam. The game is simple but still so good, perfect for a jam. The arrows are very basic but the death mechanic revolves very well around it. The levels are perfectly designed to act as a tutorial too and progressively get harder. I had fun

W game design - W sound design - W art

EDIT: forgot to mention the shooting mechanic - never seen it in a platformer used before like this. Its nice. And wanted to say you should add/extend coyote time to make the game feel more fair.

Submitted

Thanks for checking out our game! Yeah I'm not really sure what caused the audio issue, I was kinda disappointed about it because our musician put his time into it, it's weird because it works perfectly fine with the download version but it breaks on web.

Coyote time is something we forgot to implement due to lack of time, but yeah I think it would've helped a lot. I think that if I had the time to go back and change things I would've definitely made the ghost platforms easier to get onto, it's specifically spikes that are raised which have a slight problem.

Submitted

Thats okay bro you still did an amazing job. There are gonna be oversights and bugs in a game jam thats totally fine. For us we had to upload the game 3 times across the 10 days and hotfix it 3 times in a row right after (kept missing stuff) hence the 0.3.3

Submitted

Ever wanted to just break a bunch of stuff? If so then you should check out our game called "Buddy haunting", where your buddy has killed you, and now you get to use your ghost powers to spook him to death as revenge. >:D

Sure checking it out now.. I'll update you here!

[UPDATE]

- Like the low-poly style, the game lagged a bit (maybe it's just me)

- Breaking Stuff felt a little underwhelming, I wish there was more feedback

- I wish you could break the micro-wave idk why hehehe

- The music is nice

- BROKE THE TV!!!!

- So far don't know how this ties into the theme

- Love the artwork of jack

- Great Job!!! I could see myself play this if there was more ways to break things, maybe [F] to throw, maybe you can break stuff without picking them up, but overall very fun.

I love the art, dialogue and facial expressions! Definitely inspired by Undertale ;)

Cool that you try to immerse the player by using his name.

I love the dialogue options, they're more fun than other games lmaoo.

This is turning real sad :// the music and visuals fit well.

I actually feel like my decision matters and want to save Melissa..

Very cool that you have multiple endings, very short and sweet stories - I love it.

100% Playing this now...

Writing as I play:

- A pause menu with a volume slider, you're the goat

- WHAT THIS IS SO COOOOL!!!

- Love the music and the sfx, reminds me of Celeste!!

- Movement Is so unique!!

- Only thing I dislike is you move in tiles [You can't press quickly and move only a little bit], but If that's what you're going for then you nailed it,!!!

- Also the game is linear (very good for a game jam), meaning If I keep going the same path every time then I'll make it, which makes me feel both like I should remember where I went --which is ok of course-- and that I'm repeating the same thing over and over ----> a simple fix would be to give the player more viewing distance to be able to judge and decide whether they wanna fall & leave a body there or continue on a better route

- There is a small issue with corners (where slopes meet flat ground) where the player is unable to move, you can jump and get out of it... so no big deal.

- I didn't get to play the game much, but wow this is a really cool concept!! good job!! truly amazing game & good luck.

Submitted

Thanks a lot for playing, slopes have some buggy interactions indeed sometimes. You can look down by pressing S btw to see when a fall might be to steep! Just thought I'd let you know :) Other than that I appreciate the kind words so much!

Submitted

Alright, do you think you could play our game? /jam/jamsepticeye/rate/3937552#post-14450156

Submitted

The game would really benefit from some screenshots, I'm Playing it now...
Writing as I play:

- Ok love the voice acting!!

-  ok to restart I have to close the game is kinda weird

- I don't know the answers, Imma try googeling them??

- Do I have to google them?

- If you're gonna say the choices with voice acting then show them while the host speaks, otherwise It's kinda me thinking about what to choose while the host is talking in the background which could be annoying.

- The game could also benefit from some atmosphere like people's voices in the background

- When I got a question right I got excited HOWEVER nothing in-game rewarded me for it except the dollars went from 0 to 10, that's it which felt underwhelming

- I would love to get to the end of the game though and I wish you good luck

- Lastly I like the idea and could see this improved alot, good job everyone involved
