"Gangland" is an immersive, browser-based text adventure RPG set in the gritty underworld of Prohibition-era Chicago in 1928. Players assume the role of a customizable protagonist—ranging from an ex-cop to an aspiring mobster, journalist, or politician—navigating a web of crime, corruption, and ambition. Through branching narratives, stat-based decisions, turn-based combat, quest progression, and dynamic time management, players build reputation with factions like the Outfit, Feds, City Hall, and the Public while managing health, inventory, and an election campaign. The game features retro pixel-art aesthetics with CRT flicker effects, jazz audio, and modal endings for death, victory, or arrest, emphasizing moral choices, exploration, and survival in a historically inspired criminal landscape. Built entirely in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, it supports saving/loading via localStorage, keyboard navigation for choices, and procedural events for replayability.
