I love the visuals in this game and the idea is really solid. The stationary camera works really nicely until it flips when you walk under it. A smooth rotation would be desirable. Because I hadn't read the description beforehand, the rat gave me a satisfying adrenaline hit when I saw it, but it caught me and didn't steal my candy (which was not frustrating, but I expected it to catch me). I think it would be more fun if you didn't teleport but were chased by the rat the entire time. Also, I downloaded the game to hear the audio, but all I could hear were footsteps (which is fine, just didn't add much to the experience). Lots of potential and lots of room for improvement.
LOVED the art and audio design on this so much -- peak vibes!! I was able to collect the cheese, wasn't able to find the other items despite my best attempts to explore the space -- 20 seconds might've been a bit too short for me personally to get a good sense of the space, especially as I kept running into seeming dead ends😅 I got good at cheesing the rat king by running in circles around the interconnected first few rooms which was funny but possibly not intended!😂 Overall, awesome submission!
Took me a bit to get the hang of what was going on or what I was supposed to be doing, but was able to pick up on the goal of the game. Really like the environments and prop work you have on display here, creating distinct areas through out the map. The character models are also really cute too, especially the rat! However I did have a lot of frustrations with getting lost in the map. The random wheel zipping me around the map could be interesting, but having it be pure random led me to getting trapped in an area for a while because I got teleported to the same spot like 4 times in a row. The cameras were also very disorienting, not by the fact that they are stationary points, mainly because of how it whips around when you run under it. Its a quick moment that just gets me all tripped up and mixed around, but doesn't feel intentional and more so a quirk of the engine. With all said, I did finish this one to completion, well done yall
Thanks for all the complements! Yeah those are totally valid criticisms, I'd definitely like to shrink down the map parameters as well as adjust the camera system whenever we get around to updating the game. Thanks again for playing!
Big fan of the dolly camera movement system you got going. I'd be interested in seeing how you had that set up! Ended up finishing the game on my second run when I realized you could just stay put when you get put in the rat zone and be fine. Had a hard time being able to tell what I was supposed to do, but I figured it out after looking at the page. Part of me wonders if it would have been interesting to have had the rat king always following you, and then you had to find the items in sequence? Just some food for thought. Good job everyone!
Yes, I totally agree with your idea. We plan on updating the game to have that as a lot of the tension is lost for the other key room mazes (and also a tutorial screen). Thanks for playing!
Great aesthetics, very cool floating-fixed camera. No idea what I'm supposed to be doing!
FYI Windows Defender detects the exe as a "High Risk" virus. Never gotten this before for a Unity game - are you using the security patch they just issued?
Thank you for letting us know about that, we did use the security patch that Unity sent out but we'll look into why it's saying high risk. The goal is described on the game page, but we're hoping to have some kind of tutorial or "how to play" screen once we update the game. Thanks again for playing!
