Game Description
We made a short flappy survivor shooting game!

How does your game tie into the theme?
The player wears an oxygen mask to breathe underwater, but the mask can't hold all the oxygen forever, so the oxygen level goes down overtime!

The oxygen is a cool mechanic, but it seems too dividing. I've seen that some people think the game is very hard, but after getting infinite oxygen, for me, it was very easy, since the difficulty doesn't seem to increase. Sure, there are more enemies, but they are still slow and still die in one shot with 1 attack buff. It's simple, it's short, and the visuals are pretty cute, I just think the gameplay could see some improvements. Good game!

Developer

Thanks for the comment. You're right, the game could use a little balancing, especially with the oxygen, but I'm glad you got to enjoy the game in the end!

I like the art style, it reminds me a bit of bomber man. As some other commenters have said, the difficulty is a bit hard. Other than that I had a good time with this one!

Developer

Thanks for the comment. Just like you and some people in the comments have said, the game could use a little balancing, especially with the oxygen, but I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

Cool game! The pixelart is very crisp and sfx very juicy and impactful. Well done :)

Those sword fishes are absolute menaces! Also oxygen system is very tricky or unitinutive was going around chasing bubbles tryna figure out how to get more. But really satisfying's and unique gameplay, great work!

Developer

Thanks, glad you enjoyingly hated the swordfish! We kinda lack the tutorial for how the oxygen works, but hey, glad you enjoyed the game in the end.

I loved the art and the idea. It is a bit hard, not gonna lie, I hate sword fishes lol, they're too thin and too fast. Also I'd run out of O2 pretty fast, so I'd just stay at the bottom of the ocean and play from there, it is a bit challenging at first but I won't deny is very fun. Good entry!! 5 stars in originality and graphics since I haven't seen anything like this in the jam and it looks awesome.

Developer

Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the game despite the difficulty. Staying at the bottom of the ocean is a clever strategy also used by some others in the comments lol. We'll take this one to heart for future projects.

I really loved this one. A lot of fun, but there are some things I'd tweak:

I wish I could hold down click to shoot.

I think you should be notified of a new wave before you get your upgrade, I accidentally clicked on many upgrades.

I feel the oxygen bar should be blue or the stars green, because my dumbass didn't connect the two until much later

The idea of the risk reward with the oxygen for vertical movement is really cool, but you could basically just avoid it by staying on the ground and the oxygen cost was small enough that it never really was a limiting factor. I feel like maybe make the jumping more essential or tie oxygen to other movement or shooting or have it deplete faster.

The character and the fish are super cute, but the background felt like a bit of a hodgepodge imo

But I had a really good time with this one.

Thanks for the detailed feedbacks, they're super helpful. We drew a lot of experience during our project summary (including some that you mentioned), so I hope we can do better with future projects. Glad you got to enjoy the game in the end!

What cute graphics and a clever take on the theme. I, unfortunately fell victim to really bad lag which really didn't help the already crap hand to eye to brain coordination that I have... I couldn't survive very long because of it. but I did enjoy the bit I did get to do and might come back later to have another go! So it must have been a good game... well done!

Developer

Thanks for the comment. I'm sorry to hear about the lag and your difficulties, but hey, I'm glad you enjoyed the game.

The swordfish are ruthless.

Very cute game with a lovely style. Really liked how the sword-fish have a distinctly different attack, it makes the pacing much more interesting.  I was a little confused on what picking up the stars did at first and the dash felt super OP but also really fun! Overall, a really cute game. Well done!

Thanks! The art can be improved here and there, but I'm glad you enjoyed the game (and the swordfish) as a whole. As for the stars, we were going to make some kind of VFX and SFX to clarify its function, but couldn't make it in time for the deadline.

Fun adaptation of the flappy bird mechanic. I enjoyed the art style and power-ups, and maintaining the depleting oxygen meter was an interesting twist.
