I used a free TV model, a free skeleton model, a free cross model, free pixel font, and a free shader. Everything else was done by me though.

the visual style is amazing, very simple yet i love it a lot. great work on that, the core gameplay is quite enjoyable as well. good work on the game!

Very nice style! Makes me think of old school dungeon crawlers, like Wizardry and Ultima. The presentation through this sort of "found software" is interesting too, although I felt like the chat interface did not actually look like any chat interface I know, which threw me off a little (also, it would have been nice to have an option to skip it). Unfortunately, the game itself left me more frustrated than interested, I didn't quite get what the goal was (it was somehow connected to the sigils and crosses, I guess?), and how do I beat the monsters (or should I just run away from them?). Also, I've got immediately lost in the maze, navigating it was positively impossible, since everything looked the same.

the art style is amazing
gameplay is solid, there are no bugs objective is clear and overall experience is nice but
this maze feels too hard and random
1st playthrough: got tv, some crosses, heard monster coming, got cornered used tv, found another tv and cross, got cornered again, and than again and that's game over
2nd playthrough: decided to find all tvs first, after several minutes found only 2, once i got stuck between to closed walls, you really should check if player can always reach main room before closing walls, or at least some items.
so i wish there would be a way to understand where in a maze i am, like some notable points, some distinct decorations.
I will certainly give it more playthroughs later

Old school art style. The monster was still creepy. Very interesting soundscape. And the instructions were delivered in a cool way. The art definitely took me back.

I do wish I could have clicked to advance the chat in the beginning. It went SUUUUPEEEEERRRR SLOOOOWWWW. Also, I thought he said you could throw the TVs with 'E' and I couldn't. So that sucked. I couldn't figure out what the goal of the game was either. Maybe I missed it in the dialogue?

You definitely created a creepy vibe. Well done.

Love the style you went with. always been a fan of it. also like the way you delivered the lore of the game... also idk if im crazy but can you confirm if strafing makes you faster?

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I've had a game with this art style in mind for awhile, but this jam gave me an excuse to actually make it. And the way I drop lore. I got the idea from SUPERHOT. Love that game. Idk about strafing, but since I forgot to add angular drag, I know if you move diagonally you can move faster. Thanks again for playing my game!

Really cool art style, a little shader magic is always so cool to see :)  I think you just made me wanting to dive into shaders next, so thanks for that!

If you have the time, I would also be glad if you could review my casual little game as well.

Developer

Thanks! I really appreciate it! I'm glad I was able to inspire you. I will definitely check out your game!

Hey — just played your game and thought it was really cool! The pacing kept me on edge, and the visuals are super clean.

One thing: I found a few spots where collision detection was a little inconsistent — I bumped my character into walls when I shouldn’t have. Maybe smoothing out those edges or adding tiny collision buffers would help. Also, a little ambient sound cue could heighten those quieter moments even more.

Developer(+1)

Aye, thanks man! I really appreciate you playing my game! I'm glad you liked it!

Collision detection was inconsistent you say? I never noticed that while testing. But then again, I didn't TEST it test it, if you know what I mean. If I ever continue working on this game, I'll be sure to try and fix that for ya. And yeah, I hear ya on ambient sounds. I was limited with time, so I was only able to implement certain sounds. I do agree that more sfx and ambiance could benefit this game a lot. Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.

no worries man! Great game nice one

This game has a very cool art style, reminds me of one of those black and white vectrex games which I totally vibe with. The maze doesn't seem to be super big but it's quite easy to get lost in them and get cornered into a dead end by the skeleton. I find it very tense trying to outrun the skeleton while hearing it getting closer and closer to me each time, also the heartbeat sound effect really does add to the creepy factor.

Overall, it's a game with an interesting concept and a striking art style. I enjoyed my time with it :)

Really liked the black aesthetic!

Developer

Thanks man! I really appreciate it. I had that black and white idea for a bit, but now I had an excuse to make it XD

Firstly I love the shader effect to make it all black with just white outlines, really cool effect!

I agree with @Bat754 that the mouse sensitivity was way to low, and the game could really do with some SFX and or ambient background noise to help up the atmosphere.

I also chuckled during the opening chat room sequence, when you mentioned it looks like the game's been rushed! lol really clever was to introduce the controls, but also to account for the limited dev time in a game jam, and explain that things might not be perfect.

An interesting entry for sure.

This was pretty cool!

I really liked the overall style of the game. The simple black and white environment really fit with an old school game/tv set up.

It did seem like the mouse sensitivity was very low in the game for looking around. Not sure if you just have a higher default than me so you tuned the game to your mouse, but it felt like I had to drag my mouse halfway across the desk just to turn 90 degrees. But if that was the intended effect, then it definitely made it scarier to go around corners!

Overall great job! Really enjoyed this one!

Developer

Aye, thanks for playing my game! I really appreciate it! I'm glad you liked it! Yes, the lower sensitivity was intentional, just cause in my last game, the sensitivity was way too high. XD

Thanks again though! I'll be sure to try out your game soon!
