For people struggling

Hey guys, if you're struggling with this jam especially with so much time in it, the best advice I can give is just to make it first.
Ignore art, ignore sound, ignore anything that isn't the game. Make the game and make it feel good. If it feels really good and fun when everything is a bunch of coloured cubes then you can move on to the stressful stuff! It's also helpful to get your ideas out there! So I wanna hear your ideas for your games!

Best of luck everyone!

My idea is that parasites have escaped their containment cells and are now attacking the facility's workers, so you have to kill them all with guns so they don't escape and nobody dies, but you are the only worker left after killing all the parasites.

Fantastic! I can't wait to see it!

wait can you like protect another worker all you want but a parasite is gonna kill that worker in the end?

There's no "protecting workers," it's just that you have to kill all the parasites, and in the end you will be too late to reach the other workers and they will all be killed by the parasites.

ohhh got it

how can  i rate other works or only in the publish day , my first jam

I think you can only rate other works during the voting period, which is a certain period of time that starts immediately after the submission period.

ok ty.

Does anyone know how you鈥檙e supposed to make the environment behave like a living organism?

I don't know, maybe it be like if you were in a tunnel, the environment could close the tunnel's entrance so you had to find another way out, or maybe if you had like a spaceship or something that flies, if you got too close to the planet's surface, it would try grabbing your spaceship and making it crash or pull your spaceship into the surface so it would get buried or something. If you are asking about animations and models and stuff, I have no clue. Personally, I avoided that diversifier because it seemed super complicated to me.

The easiest way I usually make my environments feel alive is through triggers that change up the appearance. Usually when the player can't see. It's cheap and performant but still makes it so it feels alive and dynamic. You can do small changes or big changes, but try to place them at key moments the player goes through. That way it feels like the player's actions have caused a pretty massive shift in the environment

honestly i don't know if i'm gonna submit cause my idea is the player is parasitic alien that uses parasites to suck nutrients out of people so then the alien (or the player can come back get them) but you have a friend that's not an alien and they're a real person and in the end you gotta choose between friendship or wiping out the human race. I don't know if i'm gonna make it in time tho (I dont know if this game counts as an empathy test)

hi I just saw this jam and haven鈥檛 started yet , so far I have some ideas of the game but don鈥檛 know if I should start it cause I don鈥檛 have too much experience and I don鈥檛 know I can make it or not b4 the due date

even if its some models with vhs and 2d screamer do it
