I dig the concept of this game! I like how you have to scare one away, while attracting the other as you do so, requiring some strategy. The monster designs were great and so was the level.
At first I thought that hiding would work on both, but it seems like the one you have to scare away always knows where you are and doesn't leave until you do.
The one thing I found to be problematic and potentially game breaking is throwing the keys. While it seems that hiding isn't really necessary most of the time, it does require you to throw the key first, only for the key to clip through the ground or the walls a lot of the times, completely ruining the run. Perhaps it would have been smarter to simply just store them in the inventory and have them removed once used, or just adding the drop function. Also, the notes were quite hard to read with the monster being so active. Pausing the game would've worked just fine for that.
That aside, very nice game!
Thank you for your feedback and the bug you found with the keys. We couldn't make them bug during our testing, so we thought it would be a funny little gimmick, but we will have a look again. We have planned to add more physics based objects like chairs or vases for the player to throw (at the monster) to stun them and to add some physics based puzzles to the game. So once again thank you for bringing that to our attention.
Regarding your other points. We have already put them in for the update after the game jam. Please feel free to check the game out again once the update is out. We would appreciate your feedback :D
No problem! I'm happy to hear that you plan on adding more content to the game! I'll absolutely be checking it out when the update is out!
The game is made in bright colors, I didn't think it could scare me, but I was wrong. Monsters in lowpoly style look scary, but the most terrible thing is that they are almost silent. I was really scared when I just turned around and saw the sharp approach of the monster (at this point, because of my scream, I immediately understood about the mechanics with the microphone :) ). Very good horror.
Thank you, for you checking out our game and your positive feedback. I am very happy to hear it could give you some good scares :D
I liked the level design and the colored key-and-door mechanic. I didn’t fully understand the enemy AI, though — I hid in closets and under tables, yet they still waited for me as if they always knew where I was. Also, adding some music or a sound cue when the monster is chasing you would be really helpful (since it killed me while I was reading the first note and I didn’t even notice, lol). Overall, it’s a very interesting game with original graphics and character design. Great work :)
Cool game! It gave me some good scares, haha! I really liked the monster's design/style too, it's great! Congrats on the game!
If you get a chance, I'd love for you to play my game and give me your feedback/thoughts!
Thank you for your positive feedback. Of course I will have a look at your game :D
The aesthetics are a strong point of the game :) The story is simple and nice too.
I can tell you put a lot of gamedesign into this project and I liked it. It was a fun experience. What Software did you use for the models by the way, they look unique.
I used two programms to make the assets. Blender for the 3D-Meshes and Aseprite for the textures. You can connect Aseprite to Blender, so that when you work on Texture-Editing, Blender automaticly opens up Aseprite with the targeted texture map.
I had the insparaton from old PS1 and PS2 games, but with modern lighting. I like this clash of aestehtics from Minecraft ressource packs. I am very glad you enjoy it :D
Never seen both softwares working together, i like it :) The consistency of the models is really good that is something I have to learn. Could you check out my game and give me your opinion? I am in need of reviews c:
Cool game! I loved the style of art you chose and you had some pretty anxiety inducing situations. I like the idea of having to find keys to navigate around.
Could've used some music and the main enemy (brother?) was cool looking but should probably make some noise. I could imagine being chased by that like in Amnesia or something where there is visual and auditory feedback that it is chasing you. Lighting could probably be a bit darker too to set the scene a bit.
Fun game though and well done!
Thank you so much for your detailed and positiv feedback.
The one with the long fingers is the sister and the idea for her is to be able to creep up and surprise the player. However, we had more sounds planned, especially for the ambience, but also for the brother and the sister. The reason why I am telling that is, that we have decided to keep working on this little game. We got a lot of positive feedback, not only here, so we will be adding more sounds, music and noise to the game. If you want please check it out, once we update the game. The update will come out after the game jam has finished.
Awesome! Excited to keep playing as y'all update it. Look forward to it!
Fun game, I like the aesthetic of the game! Very hard though. Not sure if the hiding was working for me they'd come up to the closet thing and just wait for me to leave haha. Couldn't beat it but good submission.
The closets should work, but the brother always waits at the last point of source of sound. After a quick while he should leave the place though. We will have a look into that behaivor. Thank you for bringing that up and your feedback :D
Ill give it another shot! maybe i was to impatient!
I like the story idea and the graphics are quite sweet!
Now, it's very hard, I couldn't get very far... Oh and, I would suggest you set game to pause while people read the notes! It's cool story and lore but it's hard to read while being chased.
Otherwise, congrats on the jam submission!
You have hit a wound. We forgot about the pause function and then it was too late to implement it. You are completly right, that people need the time to read the notes.
Thank you very much for playing our game and your feedback. It is really appreciated!
