Reqlly good idea to draw everything, nice entry, I really like it !
A very beautiful game!
Really original visuals!
Good puzzles.
Good interpretation of the theme.
Also, the plot is harmoniously combined with the gameplay!
Probably one of the best games at this jam! But that's for sure. I only rated half of it...
Art style is very good. I like it
This art style is really creative! The music really suited the story and mood of the game. It was nice to finally play something that wasn’t pixelated. I had issues with collisions however, especially in the third level where the fan was introduced. Level design was great as well, although I think the difficulty spiked a little too early into the game (but that’s just my opinion). Full style points from me!
This is the most stylistic submission I have seen so far. The music choice is also genius really fits the vibe. 10/10 game.
Appreciate your comment so much!
Really liked this one - at first I thought the controls were too floaty, but as I progressed I got used to it and it made sense, since we're paper that can be blown around by fans :D
The hand-drawn/photo aesthetic was really nice, and with the audio it felt like a very chill experience. It had quite a melancholy feel to it, especially once I figured out what the game was about, and the ending in particular was quite emotional.
My only criticism is that occasionally the puzzles seemed a little unfair, like the level where you immediately get blown into spikes. Overall though, this was a fantastic entry, great job!
If you look close on what is written on the pages it becomes reasonable to have such unfair puzzles. The moment this puzzle is on screen - is the moment when child start to blame himself for what’s happening. As far as I can see, this is the most heartbreaking and terrifying thing that could probably happen to any child alive. This was the main point of this puzzle, to show that something truly unchangeable happens in his little heart.
This is so cute, I love the use of irl images for the graphics, it really makes it stand out visually, and the game play is fun (even if I suck at platformers lmao)
Like that you liked it! Appreciate your comment so much!
This is a nice little game. I wanna ask why you used actual pictures for the games graphics and not pixel graphics?
I wanted to make not just little game, but little world with little story of a boy whose parents having bad time. That’s why I chose this style.
Interesting ideas. The art could have more to it than just stock images, maybe some outlines would do it justice. Also the hitboxes could be better defined. Good job, either way.
What you mean by "some outlines"? I kind of don't understand what you're talking about.
So the pencils, platforms, the player, really any object in the game could have an outline around it to make the game more readable. *PS: I like the idea of a game styled this way, just needs more than stock images.
Okay, got you here. I was thinking about it and that sometimes it may be hard to understand which object is collidable. Yet I thought on the other hand that it may look unnatural in child's notebook to have some kind of outlines. Guess the solutions was to make some kind of identification that object can be used in game, but made it on paper. Will think about it, thanks!
Very creative game. I must say that it took me a while to figure out where to go most of the time, but other than that a really interesting idea. Finished in like 10 minutes. Great work!
reading your comment I understand, that I almost accomplished my idea. Being a five years old child whose parent are getting divorced is pretty much like you trying to figure out where to go. Yet I understand that game should be intuitive and easy to understand. Thank you for playing!
It looks so intriguing and so stylish! I get that the understated design is intentional, but I still wish there were more guidance. I couldn’t get past the second level, I must be missing something?
If you're talking about level with wall in center, try not to jump, but slide. Sometime less effort is better)
