Despite its brevity, the character descriptions for ALLAN and LOPPY were wonderfully evocative. Your approach to characterisation and the descriptions themselves are truly impressive. I saw you mention releasing a post-jam version... I'll be eagerly awaiting it!

Cozy and funny, I enjoyed my time talking to station master ALLAN 😅 Technically very competent! Great PS1/N64 style character models and animation. The camera and controls feel smooth and natural. However, I did miss some music and sound effects. Also, I encountered a couple of small bugs:

  • if you re-play the game, you don’t have to look up the number before dialing it
  • if you re-play the game, you won’t be allowed to ask ALLAN any questions before he hangs up
  • you can pause the game during the end credits, bringing up the pause menu under the credits
Developer(+1)

Thanks for reporting the bugs! I had no idea about the dialog not resetting, will definitely have a look into that. (And for the pause menu thing, had a bit of trouble wrangling UI layers and forgot to stop the menu from being made when the credits is up, found a bunch of other weird behaviours with it post-jam

Very nice game, needed some time to adjust to the camera but then i saw you could play with a gamepad which is always my preferred  choice for input and everything was ok :) Like other people have said before, it would have been even better with some sound and music, but overall a good job!

An alright little experience with an interesting style.

Pretty nice! I liked that you play as a mouse(?), and you can't reach top drawer and there is a cheese...

Text sound effects are amazing, but game really lacks other sounds.

Developer(+1)

Thanks!! The cheese and drawer dialogue started as jokes because the character is a small mouse... but they were too charming to remove by the end and are now core to Lappy's character haha

Sorry about the sounds! I'm working on a post-jam update and there is a much better soundscape, it's helping build tension a lot too... I'll give your game a check when I get time! thankyou for playing :)

I loved the style of the game, very good!

Developer(+1)

Thankyou so much! Your art looks very spooky, I'll have to try your game out too :))

Interesting, very stylish! I rather like Loppy, it's a fun character design. Also, thanks for including a Linux build!

Developer

I'm glad you liked it!! I definitely put style above content and had to cut a lot right before the end of the jam, ah gamedev.

Linux builds are so worth it, did you have any issues with the game running? I've only been able to test on a couple of distros and frankly don't know much about getting games to run well on it lol

Oh, that was a really fun experience. At first I was a bit confused about the kinda unusual 3rd person camera but then I really liked it. Such a cool way to implement the character and camera controls. Felt very good. I think the game could use a bit more sound effects but besides that I have nothing to complain - super solid and sweet little game :)

Developer

Thanks for playing! I intended to study more horror games before playing to get a feel on the camera / movement used in them but ran out of time before the jam. So the camera that made it in was a bit strange, I'm glad you liked it by the end!
Sound design was definitely lacking, i agree! Thankyou again for the feedback

Cool visual style, and I loved the custom splash screen y'all used for loading the game! I guess I wasn't quite sure what to do after the lights went out and so I pulled the switch in the second car. Was there more for me to explore and see?

Developer(+1)

Thanks a bunch, I'm so glad you liked the style! The loading screen is from Kenney, you can find it here!

The switch is the end of the game for now, but I'm working on a post game-jam version to release after judging finishes in a fortnight, so make sure to check that out! (And let me know if you found any other bugs haha) Thanks again for playing, I'll make sure to check your entry out too!

Thankyou!!! Your game was so juicy to play it makes me regret not focusing on game feel as much haha, I'm glad you liked it!
