I have an idea and small prototype but it ended up not really fitting the theme, should i still finish and submit it or come up with something else? thanks

First timer here, so take my opinion worth a grain of salt. I would assume that the theme is a major judging category, but none of the rules or listed judging criteria actually mention that you have to stick to the theme. Personally, I would just try and find a way to squeeze in the theme as best you can, like with aesthetics. But again, this is my first jam, so what do I know.
