Hey, read through the comments as I know how hard it is to communicate a game's purpose on game jams (for example, my game also met some confused folks, because I provided info on the game page and not in game). As my rule of thumb, if you are creating something that will not be trivial to the player, you should communicate it through multiple channels to set the expectation.
Even providing a bit more information, or "disclaimer" on the game page since you don't have a menu would have helped a long way.
By the way, I assumed that I'm also a worm, because of the tank movement, that's a neat touch.
I've only seen one exhibit in a form of a game, that was Goliath: Playing with Reality . Probably some narration every so often would have helped keep me in the game. Or the dome could have connected to some other domes were subtle things would change, like a museum.
Hope you'll find your angle to this game, because it's quite a niche style, you might get the attention of your audience.
Thanks for the tips, they are very useful.
I have been on this site for almost 3 months and I rarely manage to allocate the minimum time necessary to create a complete game. But from now on I will try to explain from the beginning in one form or another everything related to the game that is not obvious or does not have a proper menu.
Regarding the game, the idea was that the player is not a worm. He finds himself in a situation where he has to observe whether the association between a living organism such as a worm and artificial intelligence can be a symbiotic relationship or one of parasitism, namely who for whom.
Plz tell how interact with objects? I couldn't pass first location or change something
Sorry, but as I said before, it's not a playable game.
I've been "playing" with the idea of a game. The idea of a possible symbiosis or parasitism between a worm somehow controlled by an artificial intelligence, or maybe from this "combination" the worm could control the AI....
The explanation that you only had 2 days to actually create something certainly shifts the perspective on the game. It definitely has potential, and I'd love to see where you ran with this if you had the time to bring it further along development. I'm not sure if it's the web build but for whatever reason the camera for me was slowly "rotating" down which was quite distracting.
Time is always the biggest enemy and this is best seen at a game jam.
Also, being at the beginning in this field, I'm still learning a lot, so at most I can create a prototype for a game, test an idea and possibly receive feedback that helps me improve.
Regarding the camera issue, I tested the game again in the browser and it works fine for me. It might be a problem with your mouse? because I used the Input.Getaxis("Mouse...) option as camera control.
I think I narrowed this down to an issue with my mouse in-browser. It's not happening when I press "ESC", which un-captures my mouse. -p but that leads to other problems. Not sure. Seems like it's not an issue with your game though.
There is no obvious purpose to the game, as it is not actually a complete game.
As I said before, I liked the theme of this game jam, but only in the last 2 days have I managed to dedicate a few hours to actually create something.
I created a small possible scenario for a game, leaving the rest to the player's imagination. I offered some bricks and a small piece of a castle blueprint, or I could say some crumbs like in the story Hansel and Gretel.
Sometimes it can be a horrifying experience to imagine what the castle will look like in the end and what horror stories it may hide in its dungeons. :))
Thanks for the comments and for trying to play this very little "game".
I bet that there is something I could do, but I couldn't figure it out sorry. If there is a goal it should have been told to the player.
lots of potential, looks really interesting. i think i sort of understand the goal.
It's not a classic game, not even a playable one. Sorry for the confusion. I understood that we could make a very short story, even psychological or something completely different, and I liked that.
Sometimes horror doesn't mean something tangible, something that exists in reality, sometimes it's just a product of our imagination.
That's what I tried to create, a "horror" scenario. If AI and a worm-like organism could create a symbiosis, what would that mean? What if instead of the worm there was an insect? (see those boxes). For AI I modeled an object that uses a cathode ray tube for the electronics.
Sadly I did also not understand what to do in the game :(
Thanks for the comment. I tried to clarify the situation about the game in a posted message.
Played around with this for a bit, but without a clear interact key/input it was a little hard to tell if there was more to do besides walk around.
