i thought the controls were tight and really similar to old school cell phone snake controls. took me a little getting used to the odd shaped collision boundaries but then that turned into more fun figuring out where the gaps are. all around a creepy and well done take on snake. my one critique is it would be nice if the tutorial was hidden after the first play so that im right back in the action
Heya thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it! It shouldn't be too hard to add that tutorial change, I change made it that way in case people skipped the tutorial accidentally before they had a chance to read it
I do not like gory stuff and this definitely made me uncomfortable. Not complaining at all, I think its cool to try something different and I think you did the job you set out to do.
The one thing I didnt love was the view, specifically at the bottom of the screen it made it a little weird to know how things lined up. In traditional Snake it's "completely overhead" and the little camera tilt made it a bit weird for me. Also wouldnt have minded it being a little more zoomed out, just felt crammed a little.
Thanks for bearing with the uncomfortable setting!
While the camera does zoom out with each light orb you collect, you're definitely right the level is cramped and designed to feel claustrophobic. Maybe that was to the game's detriment as well as the camera angle, but thank you for the feedback!
I read the description: horror take on the snake? All right...
Then the game launched and I was like What THE F**k? XD
It's impressive you made it in 7 days! I felt uncomfortable the whole time I was playing, well done! :D
I'm glad you felt uncomfortable, that's exactly what I was going for!
Did you experience any issue (bug-wise or design-wise)?
No bugs, design wise.. hmmm.. I think the area was a bit crowded with obstacles - it would be good to have some time to get familiar with the game's pace on an easier level and them gradually move to more difficult ones. But since you pulled it off in 7 days I think you made as good design as it can get ;) orbs were clearly visible, humming was indicating where they are/when they spawn, UI was visible and did not require to take my focus off the main gameplay... really well done!
I gotta say, for 7 days I was impressed. You nailed the theme from the audio to the visuals I was uncomfortable. I think both obstacles and a timer are great additions to snake. However, the thing snake does best is its difficulty curve. In making a crowded room you have raised the skill floor by a lot, and then adding a timer on top of it raises the skill floor even more. A good way to balance this would be to add a less crowded space in the middle of the map. Players are still going to be forced into the more technically difficult corners because 'there's an orb over there' but it will give the players a bit of reprieve.
all in all a fun little horror take on an age old classic. Well done!
Thanks for the generous feedback!
I had a lot of fun making this, and while I did try to make the center area less dense, I guess that just proves that it needed more playtesting!
