I really liked the art, well done! I think a bit of feedback on using an item would have been good - I didnt notice I had used one item until clickspamming revealed I could now just take the item I wanted from the crow.
Also, kudos for adding a savegame :) I wouldn't have expected it on a gamejam game, but I was glad to be able to use it when coming back from a break.
Overall, great work! I did miss MJ's "eeeeh eeeeeh" :D
Hey, really nice, small puzzle game! Wasn't too challenging (but this is good for people like me, who do not play puzzle games). I liked how everything was consistent. Good job with making interactable objects stand out just enough so I could spot them fairly easily - but not too much, so these items still belong to the environment!
thanks so much! i put more thought than id like to admit on where all the items should go and needed to make updates after the first play test so im glad you thought i found a nice balance!
Not too shabby, I liked how cohesive the art style was. The audio felt right as well. When you use an item up it should be removed from your inventory. I got to a point where I couldn't remember what I had used and what I hadn't and would just cycle thru my items to see which ones I could still equip. You had a some nice features implemented with the shovel and the crowbar. I just would have liked to see them used more than once. Aside from that I think it was a nice little puzzle game. I really enjoyed my time with it!
thank you so much for playing, and for the compliments on the art! i spent a lot of time drawing everything :)
and i didnt want to remove the items from the inventory, just disable and make them transparent, but i think this is a good example where signals to the player need to be exaggerated because people notice and interpret things in such different ways. im glad you enjoyed your time! i was pretty worried that i made a game that would be appreciated only for the effort i put in 😅
This was nice, I liked the puzzle solving elements and the stories told by each grave!
A few things could be improved though, like giving players an extremely basic one-sentence tutorial at the start e.g. "click your inventory and select an item to equip it." and "click an equipped item next to the inventory button, then click an object to interact with it using that item".
I also got confused for a long time at the very right-end of the map - I spam clicked it with every item I equipped thus far because I thought I was supposed to solve a puzzle in order to cross it.
thanks for the feedback and kind words!
youre not the only one who got confused by the right end of the map. it was supposed to be a beach with water, some small wave animations or even static white caps drawn in would have gone a long way. its too flat so it just looks like dark ground instead of water.
and how much tutorial to give was a hard decision. i didnt want to give too much, but youre right the basic mechanics should have been spelled out clearly so players can focus on the real puzzles.
