The fact that the "fear" never goes away, even when you drop the parasites really helps sell the tension. I was missing the music (please let me know if there was music, I never managed to start the game with music) but the animations and transitions are very well designed.

It's also easy to get lost and never return to the well, similar to the "fear" it helps set the tone for the game.

Thanks a lot for your comment! I actually planned to add music, but since I made the game in just 6 days (and had a trip in between), I decided to focus more on the mechanics and animations instead. I'm really glad you liked the atmosphere and the transitions!

I like what you accomplished here. Nice small game -- it fits the parasitism theme very well, especially the "kindness corrupts" diversifier. However, like other commenters, I agree that the game would benefit from some guidance to the player. Also, I think a small mini-map or compass pointing back towards the well would be useful. I got lost pretty quickly after zig-zagging around trying to collect leeches.

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I actually thought about adding something to help the player not get lost, but it made the game feel too arcade-like, and I was afraid players would focus more on “beating” it than on understanding the message.

That’s also why there’s no real ending — only the last line changes. I tried to guide the player a bit using the background paths on the map, but it didn’t turn out as well as I hoped haha.

Really cute art style, I love the character's eyes hehe

Thanks! I'm only good at programming, so I tried my best!

fun game, but i feel like it could benefit from (as someone else said) some sort of clear goal for the player, or indication of the ending/s before you start playing. cute graphics, though, and the concept is really interesting.

Thank you! I wanted the player to focus more on the message than on reaching an ending, but I really appreciate your feedback!

It looks like a fnaf mini-game.

Developer

Interesting idea and game but I will say that there is no clear scope of an end goal , you could add a scoreboard of how many people you helped or perhaps there was an ending but I just didnt reach it

Developer

Thanks for your comment! I tried to guide the player using the background map, but it didn’t work out very well haha. There isn’t actually an ending — I wanted to focus more on the message of "helping others and hurting yourself, or being selfish and surviving", rather than making it an arcade-style game. I also didn’t have much time, so I couldn’t add music.

I like the premise of the game, it's about taking others burdens on you  and trying to solve them, but if you take to long it becomes too much. With that said the game wasn't very scary, but enjoyable non the less!

Thank you! That was exactly my intention, to make the player feel the message behind it.
