I'm not sure if the intention was for a horror game, but the claustrophobic darkness and the jump scare of turning around to see the enemy does a great job of creating a horror atmosphere.

Some kind of hints signposting where the player should be going, even very subtle ones, would be very helpful, as would some way of indicating paths the player has already taken. Currently it seems impossible to navigate by anything other than trial and error, and with no memorable visual features I think I kept running round in circles (although I couldn't tell!) I was randomly running around the maze for a very long time before I found a single key, so I think the maze might be far too big (again, I couldn't tell as I could just have been repeating the same steps over and over again!) It also feels very cheap when the monster sneaks up on you with no warning - perhaps if the monster made a sound, getting louder as it gets near, the player might have a better chance of avoiding it. Perhaps the battery should recharge too as running out is basically game over.

I was trying for a horror theme so im glad it has the correct atmosphere.

Thank you for the suggestions, I will try and implement all of them.

I was trying to think how I could make the maze easier to navigate so will definitely implement a way for the player to see where they have already been. I like the idea of the monster making sounds, I think that will add to the atmosphere while also fixing the monster being able to sneak up on you. I was going to add battery refill stations throughout the maze but ran out of time so will definitely do that.

I got very lost so I guess you could say it did its job. Don't see how it fits the theme at all but good concept.

I was able to find a single key but never made it to the other 2, i did find the door though. It took me a few playthroughs before I even found the thing that was chasing me so perhaps there could be more or make its pathfinding stronger, but perhaps I just got lucky. I don't exactly know how this fits the theme at all ethier. But I actually did like the darkness, though I agree with seth that it did make it hard for me to know where I had been, but thats a maze i guess.

Thank you for the feedback.

I didnt have enough time to properly test the enemy so will have a mess around with its speed and pathfinding. I started the game design documentation before the game jam was announced and couldnt think of a way to add the theme. I have realised I made the maze too difficult so will add something to make it easier to navigate.

It's a cool idea, I just found it really difficult. I think mazes are already hard to navigate around and making it dark really just destroyed my sense of direction. Maybe that was the intention, but I just felt like I was going in circles and not making any progess :(((

Thank you for the comment.

My intention was for it to be a difficult game but I do think I made it too difficult, so will definitely add something to make the maze easier to navigate.
