  • First off, I absolutely love that you were inspired by two classic kids game shows. There's a lot of nostalgia for those shows still, and I mean, they were great for a reason. A full game expanding upon this concept and recreating those shows would go hard and I'd encourage you to pursue this idea if you felt like you wanted to! As for your entry, I have to say that you nailed the 90's 3D PC game feel perfectly. This game reminded me a lot of Thief or Hitman. There's plenty of nostalgia for PSX, N64, and 90's/early 2000's PC games as well, so not only do you have a great idea, but the style in which you presented it is popular once again. Again, I'd highly encourage you to continue producing games in this style because there's talent here. Thanks for joining the jam!

How does your submission fit the jam's theme?
It features levels that reimagine 2 of the most popular 90's Kids Game Shows. It also has a "low-resolution/poly" aesthetic.

This was a fun take on the theme for sure. Clever interface to jump between the games, too!

Really solid game! I think you really captured the aesthetic of 90s physical game shows, which is a really unique way to express the theme of this jam. The experience felt very streamlined, and none of the objectives were frustratingly difficult in my opinion; the environments were condensed enough that you wouldn’t spend an eternity looking for all the duck parts and crag buttons. Really great work!

Nice use of the theme with the homage of those nostalgic tv shows and aside from some performance problems when you get near the smoke points, it was a fun experience,

I couldn't turn around but the graphics were nice

The Crag was fun! Totally reminded me of Guts. The temple crashes for me so I couldn’t finish it (web version). Thanks for the nostalgia!

Developer

sorry about the crash! I think the web version is pretty lacking in comparison to the desktop version. Godot’s export doesn’t seem the best. Thank you for playing!

Super cool game! Crag indeed goes crazy. Other than some audio loop issues, you had the aesthetic on lock.  Though I will admit, I got confused at the duck puzzle and hit random buttons after a bit... I got bad spatial reasoning.

I really like the idea and the creepy TV show atmosphere, the presentation and music feel great.
In the web build I ran into some issues though. Fullscreen did not work for me so the game always stayed in a small window. At first WASD did not move at all, only jump worked, later I realised movement only works when the keyboard layout is set to English. After defocusing the tab the mouse cursor stopped being locked and the controls became very uncomfortable. Because of this I had to restart several times and could not properly experience the level. If you ever update the build, layout independent input and more robust cursor capture would help a lot. Thanks for the game.

Developer

I was unaware of these issues! I'm glad you caught them. I was kinda hoping the Godot input manager would just handle the keyboard layouts, but I suppose not. At the very least, these will be interesting to investigate. Thank you so much!

Short and neat! I somehow got stuck and softlocked inside the duck table and I don't even have the VinePassive(tm). Nice music though :]

Developer

The puzzle got really weird to program, I don't know what I messed up, but things just wouldn't rotate on the right axis, and occasionally the model would lock the player in place. They'll be a fun little bug hunt if I feel like a challenge! Thanks for playing.

Wow, ducks falling and blocking my path is a very unusual idea!
It is a pity the game was lagging a lot.
Please check out and rate my game as well^^

Nice challenge, love the aesthetics and vibe! Pretty sure everyone who failed in the real show got sent to the backrooms too!

Im probably wr holder for beating this. no-one can prove me wrong.

nice lil challenge. you probably already know this, but the silver duck feet interaction was a bit buggy and hard to get

Yeah I was having trouble with some of the raycast stuff and the rotations on the origin points, and ran out of time. I did enjoy turning the player speed way up and speedrunning it as fast as I could though lol.
