This is a neat idea! The theming all around is very strong, nice art and music, and pretty addicting too.  I liked the inherent risk/reward of trying to spin for a better wedge when knowing what the answer is.  Great work all around.

Not sure if you're able to do this in-game already, but being able to view your current wheel in the shop screen would be a nice addition! Or at least a way of knowing how many of a given color wedge I have, for certain shop items.

Northernlion-ass game

Jokes aside, this is such a cool concept, but it's super hard for small brains like me lol

I feel like that with a little bit of polish and content, this game could definitely get a steam release!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We're gonna try to do that :-) We've actually fixed all the bugs that folks have reported, and started adding new features (like seeing what letters you guessed!) and new items. Hopefully we'll be able to get it released soon!

Really addicting take on Wheel of Fortune! I like the mechanic of upgrading the wheel as you progress, although for a game like this I do feel like the bankrupt wedge is maybe a little too punishing; later into the game it essentially ends your run if you get it halfway or more through your spins. Otherwise, really solid game! Great work!

Developer

Agreed, the black 'abyss' wedge really kills the game. We didn't get much time to make a balance pass at the game, so some items are probably way too powerful also! We are thinking about ways to add different downside wedges to the game that can be added to the wheel if you buy a particularly powerful item for example. Glad you enjoyed it! We're gonna fix all the bugs, add a ton more items and push it out as a general release.

Roguelike Wheel of Fortune? Super fun! Neat idea and really entertaining. I wish the answer was revealed when you lose to sate my curiosity lol. Also, an indicator of what letters were guessed.

We beat level 9! Kinda wished we got a cool win screen haha.

Developer(+1)

congrats! We have never managed it! Definitely need to add a win screen, but lack of time prevented it.

We have since implemented the list of letters guessed, but obviously can’t update the game while jam voting is happening. I like idea of seeing the answer when you lose! Will add that to the todo list!

The game is great!

That was a lot of fun, I loved the demon characters! Really well made gameplay, great art and sound design!

thanks so much!

Wow, so solid.  Fantastic little Wheel of Fortune-er with rogue elements.  Lost a good chunk of time with this one, it feels like I'm playing a ye-olde Popcap browser game that slaps.  Had to look some stuff up here and there because you stumped me (compliment).

Runs great in browser btw, thank you for that (I'm on a mac so it's been hard to rate a good chunk of the entries!)

Saw in the comments you haven't done a ton of art other than pixel art and I'm shocked! I love the style and colors and they look great with the CRT filter.   My only regret: I played a good amount of time and didn't see the duck item :(

Developer(+1)

I'm also on a Mac, so I feel ya! We actually only submitted the web version and had to be told to upload a Window one *facepalm*

I think some of the answers are a little too hard, and one or two are buggy, but we can "fix that in post".  As for the Duck, I double checked and the code is still in there! :-) There are 16 items, and you only ever see three at a time, so it's probably not too surprising.

Pixel art has been my limit, l'm primarily a coder. I have painted a lot of miniatures for Warhammer though, and a surprising amount of the skill was transferable when I had an iPad and Pencil in my hand. New skill avenues for me to explore!

The music for this game does DMCA on YouTube

Developer

Not sure what you mean?

we found the music track here on Pixabay

Developer

we are going to upload a new version with different music out of an abundance of caution

Thank you!! Sorry for the late reply lol

The graphics are really nice

Developer(+2)

Thanks! I had never done anything other than pixel art graphics before, but I have done a bit of painting from time to time so I found a program that let me paint :-)

Great Idea for the theme! I really like the power-ups, making the game more interesting. I wish I had the skills to afford the duck.

Developer

Yeah, I worried that the answers were too hard! It was even harder when we didn't give you the category (feature added at ... 2 hours until deadline?) :-)

Submitted(+1)

really neat idea! this could be modernized to a full game i bet

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah, we think it has actual game potential, if we add like 50+ more artifacts and wedges you can buy, and a few thousand more puzzles :-D

Its hard to believe how bad I am at this game.  Had to play a dozen times to get to the shop.  Good job

Developer

That might be an _us_ problem, not a _you_ problem -- the answers might just be too hard to get!

Jam Judge

Hey, just an FYI that you need to upload a downloadable Windows 10/11 version before the jam closes. Thank you!

Developer(+1)

Oh shoot, didn't realize. Will get on that now.

Developer(+1)

Done, thanks for the heads up!

Jam Judge

No problem! A lot of people kept forgetting that last minute. I get it. Game jams are stressful. Thanks for joining anyways!
