Really comfy vibes, nice game! I had a little trouble working out visually if I had all of the components in a drink when it was complex, which led to some rather upset customers. Overall though really nice, well thought out and polished game!

Wow this is fantastic! Especially love the smoothness of the camera transitioning to different areas of view. Very fleshed out game, I appreciate all the detail that went into making this! Great job on submission :)

🤯 "MOM!!! grab the camera, im in a video game"

very comfy, so cozy, such wow 😸
game vibe was on point, game was pretty solid and well thought out...
the intro cutscene kinda reminds me of those old children shows i used to watch for some reason (pingu, postman pat, etc)

I wasn't expecting such a full game! Seriously, a job well done! If I really wanted to give some advice for possible improvements, it would be about the clarity of the order, which sometimes is a bit difficult to see (small images and text, that's all), and maybe the overall speed of the game? I get that it's supposed to be cozy and not fast paced, but maybe just having the customers move up the counter a little faster would allow the player to get to the gameplay earlier. Still, very fun, awesome little game, this goes in my collection <3

Thanks for the feedback ideas! Yeah me and hiccup the other programmer kind of tag teamed it an we where almost working on it 24hrs a day sometimes haha. We got a ton of work in to keep up with the artists and audio ppl. It was a blast to work with our team. By the end it was pretty tight teamwork!

Really comfy XD

I like the audio and the transition between cutscene and gameplay

and the voice actor did really good setting the mood

Thank you for your kind words! I relayed your comment to the voice actor :)

The art is incredible! It was so cozy and nice I want to live there. I'd love to run a cafe for forest animals

thanks! our team really likes your game too

Very cute! I love all the details - especially the little interactive radio! Very clever! The voice acting in the beginning was also a very pleasant surprise! Great job! Very Comfy 10/10

Lovely game. Art was incredible, concept was great. I did have a lot of trouble with the controls, sometimes it wouldn't let me grabs London Fog, and the ice never seemed to land right. A few times I thought I'd done something right but ended up with an upset customer. I hope you keep working on the game. It was a lot of fun! And super cozy!

Love the artstyle, narration and music!

This submission blows a lot of other ones I've seen out of the park (in a nice way).

It's mental that you managed to do this in that amount of time, and it's very incredible!

My only complaint is: During the tutorial, I didn't know where the mug was because it was being blocked by the dialogue box so I couldn't see it as well.

Very cool game, loved the visuals (especially the inside of the tea shop). The music was really nice and I loved using the radio on the counter to control it. Gameplay loop was a lot of fun too, with all the different drink combinations, and I liked having everything on a different screen.  At some point I made the wrong drink and I didn't know what to do with so I threw it in the trash and it didn't respawn so I had to restart the game. Overall awesome submission!

Thank you!! Next time you can dump the drink in the sink! :) Appreciate all the nice comments :D I am really glad you enjoyed the radio, as a composer it was cool to have the music have a moment to shine in the game (thanks to hiccup for the amazing programming of it and the idea to have little notes play to the melody!!).

A lovely game from a sizeable team! Art  is beautiful,  audio is lovely, and I love the in game radio for controlling the music, I always like diegetic UI choices like this. Nice cutscene & VO.

I did have difficulty with a couple of recipes not being accepted as correct even though I added all the required ingredients etc,  it seemed to be with drinks that were iced and required milk, but that may be a just a coincidence. Besides that after I had the first customer reject a drink and leave the mug on the counter, I threw it in the trash, not noticing the sink was there to rinse it out instead...this lead to a stale mate as I had not mug to use, and another didn't spawn in, so had to restart the game.

Wonderful game though, very comfy!

Glad you enjoyed the radio!!! :) Thank you for the nice comments!!! :) Sometimes if you don't hold the milk over the drink long enough it won't turn a lighter color and then "technically" the milk wasn't added. And you are not the only one to throw the drink away instead of the sink lol! We have some tweaks to do for sure, thank you for leaving feedback!!

Very well done! The big team definitely pays off, its a very polished and thoughtful game.  Excellent work!

Great starting scene, and art style. I was only partially stressed from the people coming in lol! There was some trouble for me finding the exit on the settings book, and the cup the first time as it was behind the dialogue box. But that was tiny to the overall enjoyment. Enjoyed it overall, great stuff!

Wow, so cute! I am not even joking when I say that I almost made a game about brewing teas for different forest dwellers as they prepare for winter... HAHA But I am so glad that you ended up making this because this is 100x better than what I would have been able to do with the idea. I love the atmosphere and the idea (of course lol) and really love the art style and music. I did accidentally throw away my mug when I messed up someones order and didn't know how to get another one. I really enjoyed this one, solid entry! I did end up going the route of "forest prepares for winter" but through a different way.

Wow, this game was awesome! The premise is so cute, and the animated and voice acted cutscene was a nice touch! I liked the tilting and multiple dipping affects, they made the game more immersive. Good game!

Developer(+1)

thank you! Im glad ya enjoyed the dipping and tilting and whatnot.

Wonderful art, very very cute and I love the premise of it being a little cafe to help animals hibernate.

Incredible art and audio here—I love the designs y'all came up with. I'd have loved to see more animation with them though! Also that's a fun little easter egg hiding up there in the window. That said, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make a cup of tea that anyone likes. I tried for several rounds across two plays, but even when following the directions I seemed to get negative responses for the cups I'd been brewing for the folks coming in. I'd be curious to watch someone else's play through here, as I'm clearly doing something wrong.

(1 edit) (+1)

Thanks so much for playing, and for the kind words about the art and audio! our artists and composer are going to be so happy you noticed! Also glad you found the little window secret 😊

You’re not alone on the tea logic being confusing. Right now the customers are pretty strict: you have to match the tea type, hot vs iced, milk/no milk, and toppings exactly to what’s on their order card, and fully steep the teabag before serving. Even one extra ingredient or a missing topping will make them unhappy.

There’s also a chance there’s an intermittent bug where customers reject everything no matter what. I think I hit it once during playtesting, but I couldn’t reliably reproduce it, so I’m not 100% sure if it’s a real bug or just me being sleep-deprived from jam dev. 😅 If you ever feel like everything is getting rejected, it might be worth refreshing the page and loading the game again.

Really appreciate you taking the time to play multiple rounds and leave such a thoughtful comment.

I'm off to review other games, but I'll make a note to come back and try again. If it's still happening I'll record a quick video showing what I'm doing.

Awesome! feel free to ping me with the vid!

Your game is on my list to play when I get a chance I just want to give it proper attention :)

Developer(+1)

Hey there! I assume where you were getting stuck is that:

- Tea isnt brewed until the teabag is dipped 3 times (shown by the color of the tea)
- Milk isnt added until the milk stops pouring (itll stop pouring automatically)

Submitted

Ahh! I missed that the tea needed multiple steeps before I could do anything else with it. Stronger reinforcement of what went wrong for a drink when the NPC is giving feedback would've gone a long way towards helping me out here, but I'm back in the shop and serving it up hot (or iced upon request) now. Thanks again!

I love the vibe! I do wish the game had slightly more going on in terms of gameplay diversity, as it gets a little repetitive fast. It's really cute and cozy though

(+1)

Thanks for playing Demyr, glad you got to play our game! Do you have any ideas that could expand the gameplay diversity? We had a few things planned for stretch goals, but the more ideas the better.

I was thinking this kind of game is usually more interesting if it has a few things depending on what the aim is

- make it frantic, like you're in a rush for whatever reason (think overcooked) and the goal is to do as much as possible in as short a time as possible. I don't think this would really make sense here, but I still thought I'd mention it

- make the characters unique, like they have their own stories, their own preferences, and you get to know them over time and they are the reason you want to continue playing. Maybe you have dialogue options, maybe not, but you get to know them one way or another

- make each species unique. Can go with the previous one, but lets say you added like just three desserts to the game (saying that because I'm not sure what species should like which tea lol), maybe the squirrels tend to love the chestnut cake and the turtles tend to like the fruit cakes. The bees and bear could be more likely to want honey in their tea

- don't actually say what they want specifically, or not always, or not entirely. Like I remember an animal telling me they were stressed, and it could have been fun if they just left it to me to decide what to give them. Maybe they just say "I need something for my cold", or "I've been having green tea every single day, surprise me with something different". And perhaps each tea has one to three different properties, like maybe chamomile and peppermint are both relaxing, black and green teas are energizing, and ginger is good for health. You can do the same for the toppings, and/or allow mixing teas to get multiple different effects in one cup. That last bit probably wouldn't make that much sense with the ripping of the packets and dipping mechanics, but there's still something to it. That does change the game a little, it's not just about fulfilling a specific order all the time, but it adds a lot of depth I think.

- make it a management game and/or let me unlock stuff. I was gaining money every day, but I couldn't really spend it on anything I don't think? It could have been interesting if I was the one that had to choose which product to restock, or unlock new flavors that could get me more money or more customers. Maybe I can unlock different machines too, or the aforementioned desserts

- alternatively (or concurrently), just let me use the money to decorate the cafe by buying different stuff.

Those are a few of the ideas I had, of course they can all be combined to some extent, meshing together in interesting ways: perhaps customers that are fully fledged characters can give you specific decorations, or maybe some decorations attract specific species of customers, or some species will sometimes give you some ingredients or something if they like you.

Anyway, good luck with the jam and with the game if you go further with it!

(+1)

We did this as a team so we basically brainstormed the ideas in a few days, not everything made it in, you know how jams go lol. We only had me and 1 other programmer Hiccup to build systems and implement the ideas that where flowing in from everyone. He was great to work with, between the 2 of us we got over 200 programming tasks of (varying degrees of complexity) done on our task board.

I like the idea of fleshing out each character, it would be nice to do a pass on each character and get their personalities more nailed down. It was intended but done rather frantically.

All of your ideas would be pretty easy to add to the systems we already have without a major refactor. Adding so many more things without overwhelming the player might be a concern, but then again, sometimes games can be overwhelming when they start, but the more you play you start learning the mechanics and then if done right it makes you want to come back and keep unlocking stuff and thinking of ways to do x and y.

Some of my ideas are:

- add a greenhouse where it's more of a sandbox, you can grow herbs and ingredients, maybe after each day you go back to the greenhouse and count your money, acorns and pick new ingredients for the next day.

- add an inventory system, so you could carry special stuff with you, like rare ingredients or keep your acorns with you. (btw acorns, one of the ideas was to make them exchangeable into "bitcorn" which is a currency the composer Ella came up with lol)

- add a store to buy new ingredients/items every day

Thanks for taking the time to give your ideas!

Further development is up in the air at this point, just depends on where the team would want to take it and how much time they would want to spend on it.
