- Hello! Let me start with the neutrals and cons because that's a really short list: Some anomalies are hard to notice. I wasn't sure what to look for with some. I also wasn't sure when I needed to turn the lights off or fast forward. It's not clear whether I have to fast forward at all in the game. I discovered that you really needed to pause before pulling the lever to submit anomalies. Like with the toothpaste commercial, I pulled the lever as soon as I saw the word "blood" on screen and the tape was destroyed, but when I paused it as soon as I saw the word, there was no problem. I wasn't sure exactly when to pause for some anomalies. It wasn't clear what was too early or too late, especially when I paused in the middle of mist coming out from the Jurassic Park ride, pulled the lever, and somehow wasn't 100%. Now for the pros: This is a really refreshing and AWESOME take on an anomaly hunt game! I'd recommend exploring this idea and thinking about how you could make a full release of a similar concept if you so felt like it! Maybe something with FMV like Not For Broadcast. This is the kinda concept I'd pitch to an indie publisher for additional funding and resources. ;) There's a lot of analog horror, but not enough analog comedy. I'm glad to see more of it. The Joel anomaly and the remote affecting the commercial really had me laughing. Also, I really enjoyed the mist coming from the Jurassic Park ride commercial and the fast forwarded time during the watch one. It's cool to see anomalies that aren't just "missing bush" or "randomly scary". I also did like how you needed to turn the lights off to find some, like the ones that affected lights. Big props for not having something that kills the player if they don't notice too! I'm glad the gameplay loop was short and enjoyable. I thought this was very creative and a wonderful use of our theme, both with analog horror and using commercials! This felt unique. Like, there are a lot of anomaly hunt games of varying quality, but this one had me coming back again and again because it was fun to play, easy to play, and fun to explore. This had a lot of great ideas, like using objects in the physical world like the lights or clock to figure out anomalies. A full version with more diagnostics would go SO hard. I'm also really glad it wasn't overly scary or a negative vibe overall. It made the game a lot easier to engage with. While it was a bit confusing at first, I did really like the UI! I like how we manually moved around VHS tapes, flicked the lights, paused, etc. It was also a great way to include the credits! Overall, this was a lot of fun and I'm going to remember this for a while. Again, I really hope you pursue a similar project like this in the future. I think people would like this. Thanks for joining ShroomJam 2025!
How does your submission fit the jam's theme?
You spot anomalies in VHS tapes through a retro TV monitor and VCR.

Incredible polish on this game! Amazing presentation and a really fun concept and gameplay loop! I could definitely see this idea being pushed further, either into a more horror-themed expansion or something that continues to capture the humorous tone of some of the anomalies. Either way, fantastic job!
Thanks a lot, I’m glad I made something that some people think is worth exploring further!
Insanely fun. The look, sound and game play are all executed well. I had fun going through all the tapes. Sometimes just watched them without looking to capture anything lol. Lots of a replay value. Great game!
Thank you very much!
Well done with getting the tapes working when you put it in VHS and the TV turns on automatically.
Really cool idea and execution. The controls feel satisfying and all the little transitions between actions sell the feeling of operating this old workstation so well. You can really feel the care that went into the presentation and atmosphere.
Thank you very much!
The game feel in this is amazing - I love the momentum on the camera when you move! Really makes me want to try out diagetic UIs at some point
Had a lot of fun with the idea too, it's cool you've got multiple tapes each run so there's some replay value. Ending is truly horrifying
Thank you very much! Diagetic interfaces can be a bit of a pain to set up and manage, but man they’re so fun once they’re implemented, definitely recommend you giving them a shot :)
Definitely weird. Well made
Thanks!
dude this is insanely good, can we get a full game of this!?
I’ve definitely only scratched the surface of what could be done with this idea, so we’ll see - thank you!
