- Awesome use of the references to the mystery stream segments. I like that you can craft unique runs each time with different upgrades and levels of difficulty.
- Hello and thanks for joining the jam! As someone who's not a big fan of roguelikes/lites and Survivors type games, you did an AMAZING job winning me over, though I'm not quite sure why. The art is fantastic and I love the various styles, whether it's the rotoscoped look, the more surreal stuff reminiscent of Monty Python, and the 90's point and click adventure looking characters. This was a fun, surreal adventure. I also really liked the risk/reward mechanics with adding commercials. Thanks again for joining!
How does your submission fit the jam's theme?
It's inspired by the Teletext, an old tool used on televisions to show tv programs with very barebones graphics.

Loved the idea, the format, the vibe, the art (and WOW SO MUCH great art), the references, all so perfectly curated to vinesauce lore. If you had a remote in-hand in the 90s, you'll feel a tingle of nostalgia overload too. My only issue? Skill issue - I'm VERY BAD at this game. Will be replaying it multiple times today to see more. Amazing job y'all.
Thank you for all the copliments :D
I'm sure you'll get a win, stay strong!
the mechanics are nice and compact but also come across disjointed in ways (speed is the only mandatory stat for boss clear, but not much tells you that and dodging doesnt feel great amid 4+ ads when you are building speed), the gameplay has an extremely uneven groove but does become very heatable beatable (in a fun way) when you know what you're about (tho by then you blow past boss and win and stop; i restarted to double check there's no new game+/loop+ [i played at jam start, is fuzzy], and holy, i think no i-frames and crafting enemy combos is good for crunchier risk management {notably, megabonk does this [it might be tied to stats, particularly armor?] and i like it} but it really doesn't help with the complexity bottleneck the player [i] experiences[d], a little unforgiving, a little shock to the egoist), gray leno's long line of cars attack has stuck with me since i played it
Yeah game balance and some extra content got sidelined until the very end of developement.
Still, I'm glad you enjoyed the "high risk - high reward" concept of the game, we might consider polishing the game once the jam ends!
Thanks a lot for taking the time to give us such thorough and useful feedback. I’m not the game designer, but if and when we polish the game, I’ll make sure it’s taken into account!
Very fun game that used the theme well to justify both the visuals and the gameplay mechanics. Also chuckled plenty of times with the references.
Thanks for trying it out!
Also I'm happy you enjoyed the jokes lol
Pretty fun and polished game! Appreciated the risk/reward of adding more adds. The Grey Leno boss is awesome, lost the first couple of tries but it made each successive attempt more engaging because I knew what I had to work towards. Why does the Vineshroom gotta be caked up like that in the ending
I mean why SHOULDN'T the Vineshroom be caked up like that, hmmm?
No but really, thanks for giving our game a try and enjoying it!
Also I'm personally super happy the bossfight was fun! It was my first time actually doing something like that ^^
I love how you turned "ads" into "adds" lol. Love the retro art and all the Vinesauce references. Definitely one of the best roguelike shooters submitted to the jam. Awesome game!
Yay someone noticed haha
Happy you liked it!
Recently been getting into roguelike/lite shooters and this is pretty solid! Lots of fun, enjoyed the fact that you can somewhat manipulate the challenge which goes well with the rewards, and there's a bunch of great funi references all around!
Yoo welcome to the roguelike shooter's world :D
Glad our game is enjoyable as well!
Alright, I'm done with my QoL stuff and finally got a chance to try this out!
Wow!
I wasn't expecting a run-n-gun top down shooter, but it's pretty great and it definitely fits the theme.
The in-jokes are solid and also make sense in how they affect the gameplay. I.E. Slimechamp bursting into little slimes, etc.
I really liked being able to stack all the upgrades, and as others have mentioned the risk/reward system really makes this fun. I squeaked out a win against gray leno on my first try, and played a second time just to try risking more commercials and stacking more upgrades. Had fun both times!
Thanks for making this, I feel like a lot of fun was had while developing the game!
Glad you enjoyed it!
We really wanted to add more interesting items in the game, but we really didn't have the time to squeeze them in unfortunately.
Also I'm happy that the inside jokes were considered fun to some haha
Incredible game! The art is spectacular, and I really enjoyed the gameplay loop. I think the ability to add difficulty by adding commercials is really well done and provides a fair bit of challenge for great reward. I would love to see this expanded into a larger game!
Your words are too kind q-q
Thank you for liking our game!
If the game gets enough attention, we might consider expanding it. Right now we're focused on other projects, but if this somehow becomes a "huge indie hit" (lol) we might switch gears ^^
Really cool implementation of the theme and the risk-reward mechanic. I love the art style, too!
Thank you so much!
We got inspired by TeleText and TeleVideo (from our country) very rudimentary pixel art you could find in there!
Really cool take on the TV theme – it genuinely feels like being stuck in a chaotic late–night broadcast, with shows and commercials all attacking you at once.
I really liked how the risk/reward works with choosing how dangerous the broadcast is; pushing for a harder run to get more money feels tense in a good way.
The visuals, colors and UI sell the whole channel-surfing vibe really well, and the overall flow of a run felt snappy and satisfying.
Great jam entry, thanks for making it!
Hey man thanks for liking it this much!
Really nails the visuals and has a good risk/reward thing going on with the shop upgrades!
I honestly found the boss pretty challenging, wondering if the car wave could come from the other side of the screen if you're near the top otherwise there's not much time to react to it
Fun, and it's got a cool vibe to it!
That's great to hear!
Thanks for trying it out :D
Yeah idk, this was easy.
Gameplaywise maybe a bit too easy even.
Really cool aesthetic and art for sure!
Thanks for playing the game!
Yeah, if we had more time to playtest it, the game would've felt more challenging...
Balancing games is hard, especially on a time limit lol
add com'd too hard and died from gpu crashing
that's actually crazy lmao
Fun but difficult (for me). I like the customizable difficulty / reward but was not able to get past the boss and the car wave.
Glad you've enjoyed it! Honestly surprised it gave you a hard time. We might balance the game post jam!
(for the car wave you're meant to shoot at the cars to make a small passage for you to pass through)
