20 Second Space Shooter for the 20 Second Game Jam

Hey everyone!

I would need some feedback on a 20 second game I'm very proud to have submitted in a recent game jam. The game is called "20 Seconds To Oblivion."  The game is a space shooter in which the player must survive 20 seconds against various enemies, and obstacles. There is purposely no pause button due to the game lasting 20 seconds and making sure the player has to think quickly while avoiding and shooting enemies.

I wanted to know what your thoughts were on the game. What did I do well? What can be improved or changed? Do you think the design is easy to access? Is there a setting that can be added?

I am aware of a bug that occurs when the player dies to an asteroid or a missile from direct contact that causes enemies to keep spawning after the player died. I will fix this issue as soon as I possibly can. :D

I would love any insight, and I greatly appreciate all the feedback! :)

Thank you all and have a blessed day!

Hey I played it for a bit, Its a very exciting game! I took me quite a while to get to 20 seconds!

For me the positives where mainly the exciting gameplay and the music that really fits that vibe. I also think its very important for a 20 second game that it isn't too hard or frustrating to play and I feel like you nailed that.

For suggestions, it could be nice to have some sort of endless-mode where you can try to get as far as possible. Another suggestion could be to add more enemies which have different patterns, but of course you would then need to make sure that it doesn't become too hard or frustrating. Its a hard balance to keep I think.

Have a good one!!

Hey DeCoppelElias,

Thank you so much for the insight on my project! I got around to fixing some of the bugs that were frequent in the game. Your positive comments are truly encouraging and your recommendations are really solid! I was actually planning on doing and endless mode in future updates, as I believe it would definitely spice things up. New enemy types with a specific pattern also sound like a great idea and I will take all of that into consideration for the future! :)

Thank you so much again and have a blessed day! :D
