Godot Version
4.5.1

Game Description
The curse of Ink has filled this world. Tattoos are no longer a way of self-expression, but a forbidden magic that turns people into vile monsters.

How does your game tie into the theme?
Inkhedoro uses decay as a core mechanic and aesthetic: your skin constantly deteriorates from cursed tattoos, and every battle begins with burning or peeling away what’s left. Power comes only through embracing the decay

The art style is a 10/10 easy, super interesting and unique. The gameplay is also quite neat with the order and spaces and synergy. Nice work!

Had a bug with Demon's Maw showing up in my playable cards but not clickable/draggable for some reason. It would be useable in the next turn after showing up which was odd. Sometimes I could start my attack by pressing space but sometimes it it wouldn't work.

Had a lot of fun playing this and would love to play more! Easily the type of game I could get addicted to due to the different possibilities and synergies.

Amazing artwork! And I really enjoyed the combat mechanics.

Wow, that was intense! I was a little worried from the description but you made it “grizzly without gross”. I think the main complaint is the RNG being really out of favor for me at times, getting several “3L” card patters but the “wide cross” patterns without the center so I couldn’t play any of them. Also it was hard to tell the synergies and, afaik, I only ever saw the hammer + nail. Regardless, great work!

This was a lot of fun to play. The aesthetics and artwork were fantastic, and the SFX/music were satisfying and fit nicely. The level of polish for a 9-day jam game is really impressive. The only real issue I had was that it could be hard to tell which status effects were applied to the opponent and what they were even doing (I never did figure out what "vulnerability" did, exactly).

I managed to beat the boss on my second attempt (though it was close). I'd love to see an extended version with more cards, synergies, and strategy.

Love the artwork!

Incredible game! I would have loved to see more synergies as I could only find one between the nail and the eye. I love the almost manga styling of the game and its eeriness is great! A little more focus on synergize to make sure the game can have more strategy outside of just placing things in the boxes and it just working out would be great. It is so impressive what you were able to get done in this little of a timeframe!

Wow, probably my favourite submission in this jam (atleast so far). This was a blast to play not only because of the visual style but also the crunchy audio for the hits and the animations. Such a strong submission, hats of to you!!

Nice game. The stylized art is very good. Well done.

Very unique art style, and very polished for a gamejam timeframe. Sound effects, animations, an inventory/deckbuilding system. Thank you for the fun experience!

I only ran into one bug and it didn't break anything. If you highlight two squares with the centipede, but those squares don't make a valid configuration, the centipede returns to your inventory as a centipede, rather than a card.

Overall excellent for a jam, not sure if you're planning to carry this game on, but some feedback in case you do. I didn't quite get the addicting sensation that I normally do from deckbuilders, although probably for a lot of reasons you're already aware of and just didn't have time to implement.

The biggest problem for me was that I had a hard time figuring out what my items were actually doing. To be fair, for the first few minutes I was clicking the button in the corner, which meant my character was facing the wrong direction. I started seeing effect icons after I started using the enter key. But still, I wasn't too sure if stun was doing anything, or what vulnerable did, or if bleeding was really working or not. Wasn't super clear if I was supposed to combo the hammer with the nails either, I saw the little pentagrams, and it just makes sense, but it didn't seem to do anything. I experimented a little with the eye, wondering if it really was just a dud, or if it could combo someway, but nothing seemed to happen there either.

Death should maybe be a little less punishing, or the first few encounters should be a little more randomized, I found myself not wanting to redo the first few encounters after dying. Maybe lose health or a life, rather than a hard restart? Or maybe it just needs balancing so death is less likely before you feel invested.

I'm 100% sure you would already plan to improve this for a full release, but I'll still mention it since it's something I noticed. It seemed like I got fixed cards every time, I didn't notice any randomness or rewards for performance. I thought maybe choosing the 25 health miniboss would give something cool, but I couldn't beat him.

Last thing, I can't call myself an expert on dark settings like this, but if you make a full game out of it, I'd recommend giving it a spot of light to contrast with the overall setting. (Like Clementine from Walking Dead, or the adorable little critter cards from Inscryption.)

Developer

I'm really appriciate your words! Yep, there is no much information about buffs/debufs it's should be tooltips, like in other games, but time wasn't on my side. Gonna fix this all.
About synergys - they are not really clear now. There is red symbol and information when you hover a tattoo on arm, and if it's has synergy ther is {+ damage} text in desctiption. I wanted to create animations and texture changes, like when nail in hammer synergy - it's nailed, or in fire like in jujutsu kaisen. eye is bleeding when in nail synergy and stuff like that.
Thank you again!

huh??? this game is incredible, what?? it's so unique, i've never really played a game like this before. i will admit i don't play a lot of deckbuilders, though ^^;

just to get presentation out of the way, the music is sick and the art style works incredibly well, it really stands out and fits the vibe of the game perfectly. for a 9-day game im surprised how complete everything feels stylistically, its awesome. the story is also really out there but yet quite memorable, i like it :)

the mechanics are really unique and impressive to me, i think somebody else mentioned synergies being badly explained? me personally, i figured them out super quickly and they ended up being a lot of fun to figure out. i especially loved when i was able to stack synergies, like putting multiple nails into an eye and putting two nails next to a hammer. during the final boss, i had a double synergy with the hammer on the same turn that i had a 200% attack boost, and it did *so* much damage, that felt amazing! imo, there is so much potential to have more of these kinds of synergies and plays, the system you have set-up is very unique and absolutely sick.

please expand this into a full game!! if i had to pick any game out of this jam to get expanded into a complete release, id pick this one. im super impressed, you did amazing, genuinely!

Developer(+1)

I am very pleased to read all this. Thank you for SUCH a detailed answer. Yeah, that was the idea of making stacks so that everything connected to each other, but for jam, I only managed to make a hammer + nail, nail + eye. And so there are a whole bunch of different ideas! Your comments are very motivating, just like other kind people. I have analyzed the demand for the game and I see that many people would like to see its full version. I'd like to, so I'll try to make it even more playable before the demo, or at least half of the demo.

Really loved this concept, interesting interpretation of the theme

  • The sound effects and the art direction were very immersive
  • The turn-based gameplay and combat were innovative
  • Sometimes it felt that an item that should've slotted in should've and vice versa. There are a few bugs there probably, but some feedback on if I placed something incorrectly would be useful. Some flashing red with more sound effects would be enough to convey that.
  • Synergies weren't well enough explained, I saw the red indicator vs white one, but would love to see this taken further into a concept. If you show the player a list of synergies or even better, some text on the screen to show the player they've "discovered" a new synergy and what it does. For the jam timeframe you did enough here, but if you take it further I would love to see more interactions and explanations.
  • Strategy wise, there wasn't much. I was just placing my cards in the slots and it just ended up working. With higher difficulty and that synergy based gameplay. Possibly saving a few cards for a later synergy, etc. I could see this have some great potential as an official game
  • I saw some grammar/spelling errors here and there, and the tutorial button when hovered got cut off a bit, but thats really minor stuff.

Overall, great entry!

Thank you for such complex feedback. I'm really appreciate it. About synergies - there is should be animations and soundeffects yep, just no time to do it. Strategy idea is weak for this version, but I'm really gonna improve it by adding everything what card games using and also I have my own improvements.

I love the eeriness of everything! The art direction is where it shines, in my opinion, but the gameplay is very fun with the tactical turn based combat as well!

The artwork and sound/music in this game were amazing.

It felt like a Slay the Spire mixed with Sin City, very impressive and cool vibes.

I was very impressed with the subtle effects of moving the mouse a little to move the screen it added some much to the feel of the game.

Thanks for submitting this was a great one

I’m very impressed with this game, I didn’t expect it at all! It looks really cool as well, the art fits perfectly. Fantastic job!

Azasu!

I don't like horror yet I enjoyed the game. The visual is especially very well done, it makes me anxious just by looking at it!

I had a bit of performance issue that it took so much time to start up the game but also the game is very laggy once it started running. Maybe it's just me but safe to say, it somehow made the game extra creepy. lol

Developer(+1)

Yep, I think this intro can be shorter! Thank you for playing!
