Fun little game and a creative take on the theme! The star light pattern on the last puzzle surprised me as it emerged, very cool. I really appreciated how quick it was to reset a level.

I had a couple issues while playing:

  • It was very easy to push reflectors or boxes too far and have to reset the stage.
  • Coming into contact with the pushable reflector would absolutely destroy the frame rate. I think it was actually running at 1 FPS, which made it very hard to stop touching the reflector.
  • In level 26, I managed to desync the umbrella when going down the spike pit on the left. The umbrella ended up offset from the character in the level.
  • The umbrella always tried to face towards the mouse, even when using a controller. This was very frustrating as I either had to hold the joystick in the direction I wanted the umbrella constantly (so I couldn't press other buttons) or pre-position the mouse before doing anything that required the umbrella (which would rotate toward the mouse as I moved around).
  • Controller support didn't really work in the menus/UI.

The umbrella movement mechanic is so cool! Such a creative use of the theme, amazing work!

Yay!

I had a lot of fun with this. I really dug the chill sound design, and the end of level cheer kept cracking me up. I found the puzzles pretty challenging due to the quick decay time and some of the float in the controls, but I did like that the restart for each level was so quick, since it helped keep the pace up and made failure more enjoyable. The decaying umbrella was also a neat take on the theme. Thanks for making a cool game!

Really fun puzzle platformer! I think the decay mechanic was nice and lead to interesting puzzles with the lights and spikes decaying the umbrella. The art style is cute and looks really nice and the chill music is great with the vibe of the game. I think the player is a bit hard to control, the player moves really fast and with instant acceleration it's kinda hard to be precise with controlling it. I got stuck on a level with 2 red boxes and a row of spikes at the top where I couldn't figure out how to get across all the spikes without dying. But I had fun playing up to there! Great job on the game!

I really liked the mechanics of staying out the lights, using the umbrella as kind of a “second” healthbar. It made the platforming feel like a puzzle. A surprising amount of levels as well, good job!

really nice aesthetically and a good take on the them which made the platforming interesting. One thing is i found the movement a little floaty, a little more weight would help imo

Really great take on the theme! The celebration on level completion was great. Super thankful you included the skip button, I had to skip one in the teens, and couldn’t figure out the last level. The controls were a bit finicky but the rebound detection was generous and restarts nice and quick (minus the first weird timeout on the web, glad you provided a download!)

The umbrella was awesome. I found controller the character movement a bit frustrating and hard to control, but it was really fun to see all the uses for the umbrella. Also love the inclusion of a skip button. I am terrible at platformers, but because of that I could try way more of the levels than I otherwise would have seen.

I think you guys did a really good job at getting a fully encapsulated game ready in the short time frame. I see you've done several of these jams, and it definitely shows! It's really rare to see custom splashes, menu effects, and full options menus in jam too and their inclusion was really well executed.

Did you guys code that whole menu from scratch for this project, or have you kinda gotten a template going the last few projects?

Developer

Hi! Thank you for the kind words. I have done a few of my own menus in the past, but for this project I used Maaack's game template which is available in the Godot Asset Library. This is also my 2nd time using the template; I used in our project for GWJ#81. Thanks <3

cool cool mechanics, pretty imaginative, congrats, the music was really on point, very enjoyable :)

sadly, I couldn't pass the level 8, I would have liked to see the 27 stages.

good work!

Developer

Thanks! Yes level 8 is quite tricky haha. If you would like to try some of the other levels, there is a "Skip" button on the top right. Thank you for playing <3

This was an easy game to get into. I had to tap out at level 8 because I just couldn't get the timing right. Since there is 27 levels, that tells me you put a lot more effort into these puzzles and that is very cool! The vibe was pretty cool. I enjoyed the lo-fi-ness of the graphics and enjoyed the music and SFX. I was really happy to hear the "Yay!" every time I managed to figure out a puzzle. I applaud you for an excellent use of the theme and creating a fun cozy game!

Thank you for playing! Agreed Level 8 is quite tricky; fortunately not all the levels are as difficult. If you would like to try some of the other levels, there is a "Skip" button on the top right. And thank you for the kind words <3

I didn't even think to try the skip button haha! That is a good option to have!

Really neat idea! I love how the umbrella had so many different uses and i really like how the jump felt too!

Really cool way to bring together the theme and these genres. The umbral mechanic is super cool! I did find it pretty hard because the character moves so quickly, but it added good challenge! Well done, great entry!

Love the umbrella physics!

Simple concept, tons of progression of said simple concept, this is a super fun time! So many levels too! I'm jealous, I was only able to make 7 for my puzzle/platformer lol.
