- This was so much fun! First off, the concept of mimicking a bootleg plug and play is brilliant and extremely well handled. It was one of my favorite things people made for Joel's FrenJam this year, and I never get tired of games like this. You understand these types of consoles completely, from the ear piercing sounds to the random music like "Joy to the World" to the random bangers like in Vines All the Way Up. So massive props on the audio and the music! The horror elements were pretty cool and well implemented! I think my absolute favorite was sparing the mailman, but the character appearing in the DDR bootleg and you moving them upwards is a close second. I thought these were pretty unique and absolutely cool. I enjoyed that you weren't supposed to win, but instead there was some hidden goal. Some of those plugs were well hidden, so props to having the Hint Master! The fakeout "true" ending is great, and I had a massive smile on my face and laughed really hard at the reveal. There needs to be more comedy horror. Glad to see you back here, and thanks for joining another wonderful ShroomJam!
How does your submission fit the jam's theme?
Aside from having a CRT aesthetic, I took two main sources of Retro TV inspiration: A) The game takes place on an old plug and play system, typically made to be played on CRTs and old televisions (AV cables, grainy picture quality, the works). B) Spoilers for the twist at the end of the game. The whole game is actually a creepypasta being written by some guy on an old CRT. Those are the two big sources of Retro TV inspiration for this game (or at least what I consider retro tv; i was always more of a video games kid than a cable tv kid)

Wonderful take on the found footage genre with a plug and play twist. It took the mc too long to realize his console no one wanted to sell him was haunted. A complete package!
Thanks for playing! I did really want the final product to feel polished and fully-formed (at least for the timescale of a game jam) so I’m glad it felt complete to you!
this is such a good one! 10 whole minigames and they all feel fleshed out, im impressed! especially with the little creepy overarching story going on :o the games seeming straightforward but having a different way to actually complete them and gain the plugs is so clever, makes you feel like a dunce for following the rules and not thinking outside the box to begin with haha. the last game cracked me up with the epic intro -- i actually cleared it the first round before i started failing on purpose, the dialogue was very entertaining hahaha
the crt tv/arcade machine effect and the music and sounds were so on point, well done!! 👏👏
Thank you so much! I’m so happy you were entertained with so many aspects of the game! It’s nice to hear how you felt about the plug solutions specifically since I was probably the most worried about those, but it’s awesome to hear that you enjoyed those parts. And I’m overjoyed that the humor of the last game got through, since that might be my favorite joke in the game. Again, thank you so much for the kind words and for playing my game!
Really cool idea, really liked some of the aha moments!
Thanks for playing! I’m glad you enjoyed solving the puzzles, and I hope the “aha” moments outnumbered any frustrating moments!
fun game, catchy tunes.
Thanks for playing! Glad you liked some of the music!
good game
Thanks! And thanks for playing!
One of the coolest and better executed ideas from this jam!
Genuinely spooked by some of them, plus I loved the ending sequence xD
Thank you! I’m really happy you liked both the spooks and the ending! I was going for both horror and comedy at once, so I’m glad both of those elements got their spot in the limelight!
This was a pretty clever idea and well executed! Having to think outside of the box for various of the puzzles made me feel big-brained, and with some funi twists around, great job!
Thanks for playing! Glad that you enjoyed the puzzle aspects so much!
I liked this game a lot! I think the puzzles are good and the secretive story was told really effectively through the minigames/characters. The coconut mini game had a real bopper of a song too! I think something that really helped make the game work was having a creepy guy give you hints when you get stuck, which I did like 3 times. Awesome work in general, and especially for solo dev project!
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed the coconut game’s theme, cause yeah I love it a lot too. Also very glad the hint system was helpful. I figured it can be annoying to get stuck on a puzzle, especially for a single jam entry, and one with multiple little games inside too, so I thought having a dedicated hint system was really important to help players experience the whole game, and I’m very happy that you got use out of it!
Of all the games I’ve played in this jam, this one is easily one of the best. It is quite similar to what I was trying to do, but much better executed. Well done. My only note is that I found some of the puzzles a bit too obvious (like the Duck Shoot one).
Thanks for playing! Yeah, that’s fair to think that some of the puzzles were too easy. I also personally felt that way too, but I wanted to lean more towards the game being beatable for most players of any skill level, and I especially wanted it to be reasonably streamable without being too mentally taxing. That mindset (alongside just plain old running out of time) encouraged me to not make the puzzles too hard, although with more time I would have loved to make more complex solutions and tweak the difficulty balancing. If I ever decide to revisit or expand this concept, I would definitely want to delve into that complexity more. Anyways, thanks so much, and I’m glad you enjoyed!
This rules. The intro and voice acting are great, it added a lot of atmosphere to the whole experience on top of the creepy elements. Loved the idea of digging deeper and thinking outside the box to find the plugs, and I appreciated the hints guy and how the advice became more explicit the longer I played. And the bait and switch at the end was well done. Nice game!
Thanks for playing! I’m really glad you appreciated the hint guy since that was my exact intention. I figured I wanted to make a game with some puzzle elements, but I didn’t want people getting stuck for too long, so I implemented several checks inside the hint system and games themselves to ensure that players of any skill and patience level could reasonably beat the game (or at least I hope the design works out that way). So I’m grateful you noticed that aspect!
Just STELLAR. Great vibe, perfect take on the plug n'plays, actual creepyness for a moment, voice acting, just high quality and polished as hell, great music, amazing ending. Awesome work
Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed! I felt my game last shroomjam was too buggy, so I really tried to make this one as polished as I could within the time limit. Thanks for playing!
I love these kind of games, its was a lot of fun trying to find the secrets.
Thanks for playing! I’m glad the secrets were fun to find, hopefully they were just the right amount of hidden to be fun without being too frustrating!
Loved the variety of mini games you were able to put in! I enjoyed figuring out how to “beat” each game. #10’s story was epic lol. Loved the creepiness and the voice acting as well. I had a ton of fun playing it!
Thanks for playing! I’m really glad you appreciated both the creepy aspects and the comedy aspects, especially game 10!
Very nice game! I couldn't complete all games at first, but tips made it easy afterwards. Really liked the duck boss and what came after it.
Thanks for playing! I was hoping that the average player experience would be something like that: if you play normally, you’ll play through each game and probably miss some plugs, and then on replay it becomes easier to get any plugs you missed via the hint system. Hopefully I was able to strike an OK balance given the jam’s time constraints, but I hope you enjoyed either way!
really fun and creative take on the theme, i enjoyed this one a good amount! I don't know if it was just me though but i ran into a level on the box pushing that seemed impossible to beat. Loved the creepy/horror parts too.
Thanks for playing! Yeah, some of the levels do range from hard to impossible to actually finish, since the true objective of the game is not necessarily to beat each game, but to find the secret hidden in each one. With more time though, I probably would have at least made each game technically beatable.
Hey I just finished this! Do you have a link to that credits theme? The same one that was that vine climber theme? Because like, credits don't list it so I assume it's part of "everything else", and that track is a BANGER. Def wanna add that to a playlist. : )
Haha I’m honored… yeah that was made by me, I can link a google drive link to it here or something. Really glad you liked that theme cause I was also jamming out to it.

And permission given for anyone to use it for anything at anytime, no credit needed. I’m just happy that people like it.
Thanks!
Update: Added a small popup that appears if the player starts the game and hasn’t seen the controls yet. Full details can be found in the devlog.
Cool that the game includes several mini games at once! They are engaging and make you want to replay them. I especially liked the little crab climbing the vine and the flying duck.
I could not figure out the controls at the beginning. Please add a small instructions panel in the game to explain how to play.
Please try my game and leave a rating as well^^
Thanks for playing! I realize that the zxc control scheme might not be obvious to some players, and they might start the game before reading the controls. I’ll add some more explanation on the game page and I might also add an extra controls display before the intro. Thanks for the feedback!
Update: Fixed a few minor bugs and graphical errors. Full details can be found in the devlog.
Very cool, strong contender. Did you know you can climb down infinitely in the vine climbing game? you have to get the screen scrolling first then reverse.
Thanks for playing! Yeah I had a friend play and they found that exactl same bug lol
