Hi!

I’m a fiction writer looking to break into game narrative. I have written and polished several full-length manuscripts (currently querying agents), so I am disciplined, comfortable with large word counts, and good at finishing what I start. I am looking to join a team for a Game Jam to gain experience in the dev pipeline.

What I can do for your game: I am not just here to write a "big story." I am happy to help with the smaller narrative tasks that make a game feel polished:

  • Bark/Combat Dialogue
  • Item Descriptions
  • Quest Logs
  • NPC Dialogue
  • Worldbuilding

My Approach: I understand that in game dev, gameplay comes first. I am also an avid gamer myself, with a love for games with great narratives and strong worlds. I am comfortable working in excel and google docs.

Preferred Genres: Open to anything, but I have a soft spot for sci-fi/fantasy and horror/mystery.

Hi JEdwardCox!

I just saw your post looking for a team to build your portfolio. I think my project might be a perfect match for what you are looking for.

I am the developer of "Paranormal Operator", a bureaucracy horror game inspired by Papers, Please and Observation Duty.

Regarding your post: I noticed you mentioned wanting to join a Game Jam. To be honest, I have never participated in a Game Jam myself either, so this has been a huge learning journey for me as well.

Why is this a good opportunity for you?

  1. The game is already released (v0.2): You don't have to wait to see your work in action. It's playable right now on itch.io.
  2. It is text-heavy: The core gameplay involves reading case files, manuals, and dialogues with suspects.
  3. Creative Freedom: I have the mechanics working, but I need help polishing the English translation, improving the dialogues to make them scarier, and expanding the "Lore".

Future Plans: Currently, this is a Hobby Project (unpaid/portfolio building). My long-term goal is to polish it enough to release it on Steam, but I want to be transparent: this is not guaranteed yet, as it depends on how the project evolves.

You can play the prototype here: https://mapexpro.itch.io/operador-paranormal

If you are interested in handling the narrative/writing for the game to build your portfolio, I would love to have you on board!

Best regards, Mapexpro

Hey JEdwardCox,
that's a great announcement you wrote here.
We are a hobby team creating a Visual Novel about the Trojan war:
Trojan whores
There are currently 2 writers working on it, but we are still in concept phase and they definitely would need guidance by an experienced writer.
So if you are interested and want to join, you are very welcome!

As Mapexpro also said:
Currently we are a hobby project, but when the game reaches a good enough quality and quantity, we plan to release it commercially.

Hi there! Your project sounds really interesting. I'm a specialized Game Translator (English to Indonesian) and I’d love to join your team for this jam.

Why add Indonesian? It's one of the fastest-growing gaming markets with 270M+ players! I can help with:

  • Narrative & Dialogue translation.
  • UI/Menu localization.
  • Cultural adaptation.

I'm eager to help your game stand out in the Indonesian market. Let me know if you're interested in collaborating! My Discord: daffazetsu
