Game description
SURFBOY
Ride the tide. Dodge the chaos. Survive the surf.
The lost 8-bit cousin of Skate Boy finally crawls out of the cartridge drawer, slaps on sunscreen, and heads straight for disaster. Paddle, balance, and wipe out across endless pixel waves in this gloriously sunburnt reinterpretation of 1980s "sports" gaming.
What's inside:
Endless ocean survival - how far can you surf?
Wave-based speed boosts - catch the tide for a leap and speed surge
Dynamic difficulty - the ocean gets angrier the longer you survive
Hazards galore: seagulls, sharks, submarines

Nice entry! I like the retro vibe of the art and audio in general. Simple game that is fun to play. Jumping waves was oddly satisfying. Very cool!
Thank you for your time! Like mentioned before. I tried to keep the feel of original NES Skateboy. Mine is bit more forgiving :) once jam ends I will add some tweaks to the spawn engine to make it harder. But for now…
Cool game, I enjoy the retro style! Could be a little harder if anything. For some reason after getting hit, the sound /music all stopped until I got hit again, then it resumed - not sure if that was a bug or not.
Thanks for the feedback! adding that to the list for later investigation
It is a simple arcade game with a good theme design. I like it.
Good Job!
This reminds me of the Family Computer games, simple but classic.
When working on it I had in mind NES classic- SkateBoy
Very stylish game! The movement was a little wonky at first but I started to get the hang of it. I loved the obstacle variety and the music was a lot of fun too! Nice entry!
Thank you for your time to check it out :)
I like the idea, art is pretty nice to. But i found an exploit, when shooting, if fast enough, i wont need to dodge anything.
Thanks for finding that out! I will add this to fixes list.
From perspective I can say I should have also tweaked the obstacle spawner to be harder :D
no worries, game is still amazing :D
