Game description
In this compact metroidvania, aid Leit on her mission to save her people and fight the menacing music that curses the land. She will meet a secretive old man, an oblivious scout and a desperate merchant, before battling two powerful fiends. With rhythm-based combat and haunting music, take a glimpse into a murky fairytale world of mystery and woe. Strike up your strings.
Theme interpretation
I interpreted 'waves' as sound waves - Leit attacks and interacts with the world through music.

Wow! This came out great. So happy to see this project come to fruition over the course of the jam, from the initial concept art to this final version. Great work!
I love lots about this game, but I’ll highlight my favourite attention to detail… the minute pause in the center of the beat bar. What a subtle and clear UI/UX choice.
The artstyle and level design is great. Simple yet beautiful. The sprites are original. I also like how combat starts to sound like a symphony, excellent audio design.
Overall this is a really great piece, you’ve done very well. Nice work!
Omg thank you so much for your kind comment, and happy new years ^^
Loved this! The art is gorgeous and the music fits it wonderfully. Feels like a mini Hollow Knight with a rhythm element!
Visuals are obviously fantastic and really well-made for a jam game. The environments look great too which really adds to the whole experience (especially the foreground silhouettes!!). The effects on landing an attack and taking damage are really good too, super hard-hitting. The only visual issue I saw was Leit's skirt slightly disconnecting from itself when playing the violin , but I really didn't mind due to the rest of the game looking so good!
Audio is great as well, linking up the music to the violin playing is super impressive and really enjoyable. The music was really good and fit super well with the art style, and the violin sounds fit nicely with the music. The NPC talk sounds were super charming and had a lot of personality, definitely made them fun to talk to! I would love if the music loop was a tiny bit cleaner, as I did notice the loop when it happened, but the blend isn't particularly bad.
Platforming felt floaty but fun, no issues there. The attacking was good, but there was very little leeway on the note timing. No criticism for that, though, as I do think my issue with hitting the timing is more of a skill issue for me than a problem with the game. I did notice that hitting the note right on the tail end seems to buffer it- that is, if I attack right when the note is leaving the beat range, it'll wait another beat then play the attack afterwards. I did also find one significant bug that I think has been mentioned already: on the downloadable version, once I head into the credits room (which I can do before defeating any bosses) and I'm taken back to the menu, the next time I open the game the music has stopped and I'm unable to attack. Restarting the game fixed it so it wasn't a big deal, but I did lose progress. Finally I also had a crash on the web version during one of the bossfights, but you did warn me the executable would be better so no criticism there either.
I really enjoyed playing this!! The art was beautiful, the gameplay was fun, and the audio was on-point- just a really good time overall :))
Thank you so much for the kind comment, I really appreciate it ^^ The web version needs a lot of bug fixing like you said, when you fight the boss the web version crashes :/ And yeah sadly you can't replay the game after you finish it because of that bug too xd
The music was beautiful! Really fun entry! One thing I noticed was the attack seemed to be slightly off,to me it seemed like it registered the attack on mouse up rather than on mouse down which would feel more natural. Either way, beautiful entry and I definitely see the Hollow Knight and Silksong inspiration!
Thanks dude, for the attacked being off, I have no idea why it's doing that, I probably didn't notice it while play testing xD Thanks for the kind comment ^^
Wow! Amazing one!! Hollow knight's style is always pleasant to look at and there are a lot of content with an interesting theme and story. Music in this game is beautiful. I only think jumping felt a little floaty and attacking is hard, keeping the rhythm and all.. sometimes it felt like I had to drag a little bit to get the attack, but maybe its because I played on the browser idk. Awesome game!
Thank you so much ^^ The browser is very laggy and buggy 😭 but I really appreciate your criticism.
The attack mechanic is really interesting! Keeping the rhythm was really fun. The game is really polished too, this is one of the best entries I have played so far!
Omg thank you so much ^^
Love the art as well as other comments mentioned :)
My only complain would be the controls - it didn't feel intuitive like in other games with same mechanics.
I liked the attack mechanics a lot - it is very satisfying. Took me a while to figure it out though :D
Thank you so much for playing the game ^^
I feel like you were lagging to much, so the beats were not synced with the music, and the jump was not registering correct, I will try to fix that so the game will be playable with lower fps :D
I really appreciate you making a video too!!!
I really liked the combat mechanics when I figured it out 🙂
Thank you for the game 😉
It feels like a lot of artwork went there
Love the hollow knight inspired art here, you really got the asthetic down. The combat is pretty cool and the boss fight was pretty well done. The game crashed for me at the boss fight butmI played enough of it to see that his attacks and stuff it was cool. The only thing I would say is that the jump is too floaty, and there should be sound sound effects for taking/dealing damage to accompany the cool vfx for it. Good stuff!
well you didn’t miss much from the game after the boss fight, you unlock the dash and the game ends after couple of mins, but thanks dude, I really appreciate it!
Very neat game you have here with some nice world building . I was very pleased with the boss fight against that flute wielding ruffian and after a few tries I was able to take him down. I did encounter a bug right after I beat him that had the game locked into slow-mo. I don't know if it had to do with getting hit right before I defeated him but it could have something to do with that. I tried going to the next room but the slow motion effect stuck with me. Great job!
oh Yh that bug was so bad, I didn’t know how to fix it xD if u press “F1” you can reset to ur last checkpoint, thanks tho, I really appreciate it ^^
Marvelous and distinguished game! The idea to combine music game qte with combat is defintely innovative! And here are some advice:
1. A Bug Exists lol : when I back to game from the credit page, the music stopped and i can't do the qte attack either. I also can't qiut the game since it lacks a quit bottom.
2. There is a certain phase offset between the music and the QTE . Add a System for calibration and increase the reaction time for QTEs will defintely improve the playing experience.
All in all , it's defintely a great innovation and a nice try. Wish to see your next version. :-)
btw someone's close friend is here LOL
Thank you for the kind comment ^^
Just shared the game with every of my close friends. This is true art!
Omg thank you so much 😭😭
super fun game! I love the attacking on beat mechanic, it sounds difficult to implement! you did it quite well and yeah, it was fun to play. It did feel like it had fewer frames than it should though, idk why that is. overall amazing entry though great job
thank you so much, the attacking mechanic was not that hard to implement actually, but thanks ^^
