Description
Functionally this is really 2 tracks in a trenchcoat in terms of how they'd actually be used in a project, but rolled into one here for submission and just having it all connected nicely.
Synthy stuff isn't really my area tbh but it's something I really ought to get better at so was probably good for me to do this.
Possible warning for those using headphones that it gets much louder over the course of the piece.

Lessons Learned
Defo got a bit more confident on synth stuff/sound design which has been something I've known was a weakness for while. Also, really learnt I need to freeze tracks as I go along because I've lost count of the number of times my computer crashed on this one.

This truly is the one submission that hasn't been corrupted by capitalism 😉
Personally would've liked a bit more synth stuff to go alongside the orchestra in the background, maybe some synth bellish tones or some higher stuff to add some sci-fi sparkle to give more space feeling to it, but the track is great as it is musically speaking though 😁
Could feel this type of stuff fitting a Warhammer 40k game, or something of the sort, good work!
This has got some good kick to it! The instrumentation is great. I like the vibes of the whole song. I think you did a pretty good job with the synths. But yah, they are hard to use. What this track needs is more reverb. Other than that it is good. Solid work here!
Quite bold and dynamic, I really like it! Gives off a lot of great doom vibes a là Indipendence Day. The only criticism I have is that the strings sound a little too "dry" during the most intense passages: a little more room reverb would have done wonders. But other than that, keep up with this, you're doing more than fine!
I think like A+ for creative and uniqueness for having the suspense stabs come in and out like jump scares. I'm not sure that it sticks the landing but that comes with practice. But i definitely saw what you were up to. I'm kind of on the wild side in these game jams since I started so I'm sympathetic to this stuff :)
Cheers!

This is a cool piece! It has interesting form and great storytelling, almost operatic. I think some of the sounds felt slightly out of place. It's okay to be abrupt, but everything could still gel together a little better in the mix, maybe some EQ or reverb.
The initial ambience is very smooth and feels like liquid - moving but very fluid. The violin melody that emerges is haunting and beautiful. I think that your orchestration overall is very well-written (I especially love the blasty brass parts). I do think that with the first part of the piece and the more ambient parts having such a fluid sound, that the rest of the instruments would benefit from a little more spacious reverb to match. I really like the doubling of the brass hits with the crunchy bass to get a really thick and splattery sound. Nice work on this and thank you for sharing!
I found sound of the impacts and heavier FX to be a little weak, but the tension that builds and the atmosphere created are super solid and I like the sinister tone that was taken here a lot !
Thanks! Thinking back I should have fully leaned into sidechaining them to the rest of the track so I could turn them right up. Had to turn them down quite a bit in the name of not clipping and I reckon that would have helped me dance around that a bit.
