When you do not credit the creators of that platformer art pack, you raise the impression that all the art in this game is created by yourself. Doesn't matter if attribution is required, for jams where "graphics" is a rating category, this is an important note that shouldn't be missing. Btw, what about the music? Done by yourself? Or also 3rd party work?
The resources I’m using are free and open, so there’s no issue with that.
And if you want, you can create art packs or music for me — I’d be happy to use them.
Awesome! Is that the character from Adventure Time? Hope Cartoon Network doesn't come after you for copyright! 😅
It's not the official character; it's just an inspired design. So there’s no copyright issue."
Nice work. Keep improving and growing!
thank you bro
This is pretty impressive for a first game! I loved seeing the finn cameo as well. Keep it up!
thank you
This is a really great first game project! Most interactions have a sound paired with them which is so important, and you've got some jump input buffering already for a nice responsive jump.
Two suggestions for you: You've already got jump buffering, you should look into adding some coyote time to go with it for a great feeling platformer. For a small moment after walking off a ledge let the player still jump. At least two of my deaths in the game I think would have been prevented by coyote time, right now if you're just a tad late on the jump you die. In addition to this, I would look into adding some checkpoints in the game to respawn at after the player dies. It's really rough having to start all the way back at the beginning.
Awesome job!
Thank you so much for the feedback!
I’m really glad you liked the game. I’ll try adding coyote time and checkpoints in the next update. Thanks for the suggestions!
Great first game! Platforming was simple which is good for your scope management. In the future, I would recommend adding a credits section where you promote all of the art and assets that you used. I know for a lot of free assets, it is not necessary to credit the authors but it is a good habit to build which promotes a good environment for anyone in the gaming industry. Keep up the good work and I am excited to see where your game dev journey takes you!
Thank you so much for your feedback!
I’m glad you enjoyed my first game. I appreciate the advice about adding a credits section — I’ll make sure to include one to credit the artists and assets I used.
Thanks again for the support!
