Game description
Bernard, Josette's late husband, still very attached to the hold he has over his wife, cannot leave her alone, even in the afterlife. Desperate, she calls on her loyal friends, Halima and Dorothy. The three widows then embark together on a quest where each will have to face her past and exorcise their respective husbands.

"How to exorcise your husband" is a short puzzle game where you follow three old ladies in their impossible quest. You will have to face the ghosts that haunt each protagonist's past. Armed with special ghost-hunting musical instruments that they ordered online, you will have to fight each husband by solving a series of puzzles.

Each level will require you to find the ghost's position in the grid. Trap it using the anti-ghost device. And finally, destroy its ghostly energy by positioning each protagonist at the right distance, so that the wave generated by their instrument resonates with the ghost's paranormal energy.

Theme interpretation
Waves in the physical sense produce a whole range of phenomena. We have tried to reproduce some aspects of wave propagation in space while simplifying everything to produce interesting gameplay. In this game, you must position wave emitters in a grid so that the result of the superposition of these waves, as measured by an observer, corresponds to a well-defined pattern. In the end, only the idea of signal phase shift as a function of distance remained, such that it is possible to create an intuition about what each interaction brings. But we still use the 2D wave solver as a cool overlay.

I was drawn in by the title and visuals, and stayed for the intriguing story and unusual mechanics.

Congrats,  the game feels complete, polished, and well-crafted. Despite some initial difficulty in understanding the mechanics, we managed to exorcise all three husbands in the end!

Everything is well done: from the graphics, animations, fonts, and music to the care put into the game page. Really original mix of positioning, guessing, turn-based play, and wave alignment.

You should definitely consider releasing a full version!

Loved it, but a bit frustrating trying to understand how to place the ladies and the trap. But we reach the end so...

Good job! A really nice entry =)

Interesting idea, but a bit hard to understand without a guide.

It's a pretty good and complete game. I got a bit lost trying to figure out how to sync the waves. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

This is a surprisingly well-polished game! I love the lil grandmas, Josette is a favorite.

It took a good bit of playing around to figure out that the only thing needed to get the waveforms in-phase was each grandma’s distance to the trap. But once I figured that out I was able to intuit how to build a strategy around catching the ghost.

The audio work, the UI, and the visual design is all tops. Very well done!

Thanks a lot for your comment ! <3

I am glad you liked the game and it is super cool that you managed to figure out the mechanic. Onboarding is something we know we need to work on, we tried to make it as smooth as possible but the concept being quite complex there is a tone of room for improvement.

This is a really interesting concept for a game. Love the music and the art direction for this game. Also, the sliding animations you had between scenes really makes this game feel polished. I am still a bit confused at how to use the wave machine on the left side of the screen. I think a very simple tutorial where the ghost is in a static space and then you can move around freely so that you can see how your wave sensors react to the distance and direction of the ghost would be massively helpful here.  Great game and the work that you did to polish the game feels great! Keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot for your comment and your feedback.

Indeed we know that the whole onboarding is in desperate need of improvement. We need to work on that. Thank you for the suggestion ! :)
