Cool game! It would be great if the shooting speed would be a bit faster at the beginning

I like the pixel art character design and the sound of this game! Good job!

I enjoyed playing this! I love the design and the choice of legends, I think with a bigger range of legends the randomisation would be more apparent! Potentially increasing the difficulty and adding an auto-attack or button hold to attack would be a good addition too :) I'd be keen to see where it goes!

Really well polished game, showing the artist and sound team's effort alongside mastery over unity's features! Good job!

What an awesome jam entry! I can tell a lot of thought and effort went into making this a great game.

Things I liked:

The art, atmosphere, and sound design were all amazing! I also really enjoyed the voice acting and vfx as well. What you guys where able to get done for a game jam game is just wild to me.

Things I didn't like:

Honestly there's not a lot I can talk about here (It's a really good game)! There was a bug where enemies could spawn inside of you so that was a little annoying. I also think variety in enemies would have gone a long way (I don't have much room to talk though, lol).

Overall I really enjoyed this one and I can't wait to see what you guys do with this in the future. Great job!

Thanks for the feedback! If you check the credits, you'll see it took a lot of folks working in parallel to get it all done! I definitely worked that producer muscle this jam XD

I'm glad you enjoyed it and yess - variety in enemies, more cards and better AI are already on the list!

I can really feel the care put into the visuals and the sound design, the game is truly a pleasure to play. I understand the use of randomness in the level-up system to work within the imposed limitation, but I think it could have been tied to it a bit more. But overall, great work !

Developer

Thank you so much! The team did indeed put a lot of effort in it so I'm glad you enjoyed it!

And yess, valid point, I'll be adding more cards so it's a bit more clear what we were going for. We have so much art we're yet to use XD

I dont see the use of dice here, but anyways about the game: the game is too slow makes progression very exhausting, the fact that you gotta attack ypurself instead of it having auto attack doesnt make it so much more interesting. Abilities are kinda useless, you are still will be overcrowded unless its an op one. The cons are, that the game looks awesome, art style is awesome voice acting is amazing and sound design is amusing

Developer

Thanks for playing! We interpreted limitation as "randomness" and the cards that you get to pick from are supposed to be random. But I can see how it might not be that obvious!

Thanks for the feedback - the game mechanics planned were a bit beyond the scope of what we actually had time for, but something I am excited to tinker with and improve in the coming weeks. And the praise for the art and audio is well deserved - they did indeed do an amazing job!

This is a great Game Jam entry — the music, sound effects, character voices, and animations are all beautifully done. However, the game can feel quite exhausting to play because it requires frequent mouse clicks or movement inputs, while also constantly monitoring skill timings and repeatedly pressing the “1” key. It might help to simplify some of the mechanics, and perhaps consider remapping the “1” key to something more accessible. Any of those would make the gameplay much more comfortable.

Developer

Thank you so much for finishing the game and for your feedback! All valid points, the game is a bit hectic to play right now, something we'll iron out in the coming days :) That '1' button was really meant to be the ability bar with more than just one summon haha

Wow, Amazing VA, for the female and male characters. great graphics! Really cute design. Outstanding in that aspect. This could be my favorite game if the gameplay is tweaked. I don’t feel it fits the limitation/theme that much. It feels like an unrelated passion project. Were you able to make this in one weekend? That’s crazy good.

The gameplay is a good start. The graphics are awesome. The enemies are too slow and too spongey, making for a slow paced fight. I need to click to attack and spam 1 for pets which seems unrelated from a player experience perspective. Also, I hate that click is attack and then if I am not super careful I click to select a pet before I noticed the menu for pet selection pop up cause there is no confirm button to lock in my selection.

I see a lot of potential. I didn’t hear anything

Hey there, thanks for actually beating the game, I know the gameplay is a bit rough around the edges! Thanks for calling out the art and VA, they've done an amazing job indeed!

I'm surprised you didn't see connection to the theme and limitation, I suppose it can be clearer... it connects to Creation theme since you play as a storyteller that tells/writes stories and it connects to limitation with the bonus legends which are supposed to be random. "Supposed to be" since we have 8 but I only had time to implement the 3. That's why they're all the same each time XD

All valid concerns for the gameplay - I'm planning to fix some of the pacing issues and fix the pop up menu so it's not that easy to accidentally choose a legend there. Thanks again for all the feedback!

It really is top quality art and yeah I see what you mean about storytelling and randomizing summons even if it is not clear and obvious at first. Who cares, it’s beautiful art and VA and can blossom with the right game mechanics and programming.

If I was directing the shape of this game (and I don’t mean for a short jam), I’d make the monster cards situational, so depending on the enemies, you’d need to open your deck and summon a monster and each would buff the player differently and affect the gameplay.

Real good work. It is hard to make an accessible juicy and fun top-down shooter survivor. Go for it if you’ve go the guts. Your team is awesome.
