Description of Setup (Optional but recommended)
Both of us used Reaper DAW.
Blender was used to create the cover art.
Space background was generated by the use of https://tools.wwwtyro.net/space-3d/index.html
Great tool, I encourage to check it out.
Lessons Learned
Let things go and proceed with the rest of the project.
Set up a consistent loudness between tracks.

Fantastic sound design. The alien vibe is so good!
Thank You! It's so nice to hear we managed to pull off the alien vibe.
Good work from both of you! I love the first track Sheni for setting the ambience, and as others have pointed out, the percussion and sound design is stunning! REM really makes me feel like I'm embarking on intense scouting missions in space. Also, side note, I loved the project page aesthetic and writing!
Ha! I was wondering if people are actually looking at the project page. And here's proof that at least some are. Nice to hear the project page aesthetic worked. Gonna be real – I was doing it all last minute, the idea was to give it a retro-ish sci-fi terminal feel. And I think if I stated earlier with that idea, I'd have made some sprites for the background to portray the mood with more depth to it.
Awesome beat and theme here! Solid work here you two.
Thank You! Appreciate the kind words
Really solid tracks, great work.
One thing I am curious about is how your second track would sound if you opened up the reverb after the exposition. I have heard this effect before, but hearing your track reminded me of it.
Overall this was well mixed and pleasant to listen to.
Thanks, nice to hear!
Now speaking about exposition do You mean the 0:15-0:29 gap? Maybe You would have an example of Your idea? Peaked my curiosity here.
Great alien vibe, loved it!
Thank You! Appreciate it!
Sheni was really interesting in the percussion department, I really love how it evolved over time and the sfx did an incredibly job immersing me into the world of the game. Pretty great stuff! I wish the melody was more ear-catching, as it didn't do much for me. But the percussion and sound design make up for it entirely. It's a really well made piece and one that feels very very sci-fi. Really good stuff.
REM - Great as well, the arpeggios and bass were really catchy, and held my attention a lot more. I found the organ to be a bit jarring, and can't say I'm a fan on it's inclusion. I also think it's melodically bland as well. But the first half of the song is super great.
Thank You for pointing out our drawbacks, we definitely can improve on the parts You specified!
As for the organ part I have noticed how it really depends from person to person. Some people explicitly state they love it, some say it's too random and not fitting. Quite something to ponder about – to go with consistency or to go with inconsistency to keep the listener entertained.
Sheni: The initial gated glitchiness seemed to place us directly in the biology research lab. The beat (very well-produced by the way) then seemed to shift the focus to the determination and drive of the main character in the story. The piano seems to represent the humanness of the situation and does a nice job working with the more technological electronic instruments and percussion. My favorite part of the track was 1:47 until the end with the really creative sound design!
REM: Equally impressive production on this track! There is more of an urgency to this track and I love the sound design at the break point about half way through where there are instrumental elements that seem like a heart beat and sirens. The organ at 1:30 was an unexpected choice, but I love the dire and climactic tone it delivers to finish out the track.
These tracks are impressively cohesive which I think was one of the biggest hurdles we faced in the collaboration on our submission. Thank you for the story you wrote - it was engaging and provided great context that helped me really appreciate your tracks to the fullest potential! I’m very curious about the white dwarf star and it would be fun to hear more tracks that describe the remainder of the story. Great job with the collaboration and thank you both for sharing!
Very nice to see such a detailed review here in the comments. Thank You!
It's pretty surprising to me that we are getting comments about great coherency, while our music styles, tastes and generally preferred frequency ranges totally differ (PebbleWheat manages to pull off much better use of higher frequencies, while I tend to be very timid with highs).
It's also nice to see someone else trying to collab, I will definitely give Your submission a listen.
As for what helped to bring our vibes together, we first of all had a discussion on what musical style do each of us wanna go for, what is the backstory, style of the story. Then we have discussed what reference tracks are we planning for each of our tracks. In other words, communicating with your fellow collaborator and writing down agreed ideas basically guarantees at least some sort of cohesion.
I sincerely encourage you to keep on trying, collaborating and keeping the passion for music alive! Peace, see ya!
i really like that siren sounding synth that came in at around a minute in, in the second track. all those alien-y tech-y sounds you guys used, as well as the glitchy sound effects are really really cool! it really feels quite futuristic and high-tech. Both songs connect quite nicely but they're still both quite unique which I love, overall a great submission! great work guys :D !!!
Very nice to hear that we managed to have coherency. Thank You!
This is indeed really cool sound design! Very well mixed and professionally put together. Such a clear direction and theme to both songs. The clicks and whirs just make you feel somewhere high tech in space. The second song is a really nice vibe as well, great stuff! Love the energy throughout and the arpeggios at the end :)
Thank You, kind words are very much appreciated
Cool sound design
Thank You, appreciate it
