I really enjoyed this! Some feedback:

The hard mode is too hard to play with one thumb. I recommend mapping the top character to any d pad direction and the bottom character to any button.

Also, it would make it much better for high score chasing if restarting skipped the opening animation. It looks cool once but seeing it again and again is pretty frustrating.

I made some changes based on your feedbacks, thanks  !

This game is tough! Flappy bird in overdrive! I like the digitised sound at the beginning. It would be good if collision detection was more forgiving. Reminds me of https://nop90.itch.io/ryoshi-shinryaku

Difficult but fun! The "mo no" audio clip at the beginning was quite the surprise! (very cool)
A little tune playing during the run would be a nice addition.
Most of my runs ended with about 300 points, but I did eventually get up to 1600!
Playing on a Lynx model 2 it seemed to encounter an issue when transitioning away from the start screen with some regularity.

1600!

Froze after pressing A on start screen

Thanks, I fixed it

Why is it so hard and unforgiving ?

I want to become addict and improve, but it is really an action game for skilled players and it just show me I am old :(

I like the idea of having 2 gameplay and using the 2-button option could probably be easier when you have the reflex ( but this is not my case)

Please make a version starting with lower difficulty (it is really a question of quarter of second reaction and it is really frustrating to die so soon, not having the time to feel the flow of the game) with increasing difficulty, and a bit more forgiving for more fun.

My best score : 700 which is very low (maybe 5 or 7 seconds run I guess)

Edit : finally manage to make 2050 :D

The game is much too unforgiving to me. I believe that my highest score was around 160. The game also sometimes produced garbled graphics and a green screen requiring a re-start.

Classic but always fun concept, I would play it a lot if the collision detection was not that frustrating.
