this was sooooo cute lovely and made me flashback to my own experiences in group clubs and visiting the library. also i didn't realize at first that all of the books were like, real, so i did some very hasty googling and now have several books on my to-read list lmao. aside from that, it was fun seeing the different characters' approaches to their presentations and how their personalities are reflected in the things they focus on when talking about their books. it was also super cute how the mc and the chosen love interest calmed each other down before their own presentations. it was so relatable seeing kai pick books because they were pretty and i related too much to june getting down because she got rejected for her phd. the relationship progression felt very natural and i loved reading it!!!
I thought this was cute! I was never a book club kinda guy because I read so slow, but it was cool pretending! The character designs fit well with the theme and the GUI was aesthetically pleasing to look at. Kai's CG was adorable with the paint date too.
This is a wonderful little cozy game that really emulates the anxiety and loneliness people can feel and how building community really helps with self esteem! I liked how the characters were nuanced in their perspectives where they also had the same anxiety as MC, and how the characters support MC and MC supports the characters. It really does build up a sense of connection and I really enjoyed June and Kai! Kai is literally me. Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to more!
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed my game! I really did my best to convey everyone's anxiety and how everyone starts connecting with each other, so I'm really glad to see you point that out in your comment :D
Hi ! I really liked the vibe of your game, it was sweet to play !
About the gui pack tho, I felt like the brown scale colors of the backgrounds didn't really fit with your colorful artstyle and the gui pack ? But that's only a taste choice.
I did hope we would get to see more of the characters and sometimes the presentations of the books can be a little long, but overall it was really nice !
I get your comment about the backgrounds not matching the giu, but those are stock photos with a filter. I wasn't able to match those 100% to the rest of my game theme unfortunately.
There are a couple of typos in the script, which isn't really a problem but I appreciate when people notify me about stuff like this :D
I'm an English Studies graduate, so I'm very familiar with the concept of literary analysis. In that regard, this game kind of felt like being back in class HAHA. Kai and June are really cute characters, I wish we'd gotten to see more of them as people! Is Kai wearing hearing aids? That would be such an interesting thing to explore in a possible sequel hehe... Mary is an adorable character, too. I want to get to know her better too!
The illustrations were really cute and I particularly like that they're positioned at the end of the routes. It makes you feel like you've truly gotten close to the characters over time, as opposed to them instantly liking you. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for your comment! (AND thanks for letting me know about the typos, guess they slipped through my check :p)
I'm glad to hear the literary analyses felt familiar! I'm an English lit graduate, so I was really trying to evoke how discussions took place in class.
I'm happy to hear you want to learn more about the characters! I intentionally left the 'getting to know them on a personal level' out, since I really wanted to show how meeting new people goes when you only see each other for like an hour a week. Thanks for the tip about the idea for a sequel, I'll definitely consider it!
To answer your question, yes! Kai wears hearing aids. He briefly talks about how it is sometimes hard to hear what people are saying in busy rooms. It's something people I know who wear hearing aids often bring up as a problem. I wanted to touch upon this topic without getting too personal for Kai, since you as the player are still a bit of a stranger to him.
I'm really glad to hear you liked the illustrations, too! I'm happy these also got the point across that the characters grow to like you and grow to want to hang out with you over time instead of liking the player instantly.
It was lovely, I really really loves the characters. Dw about the typos either, I know how it is 😭 it's hard to make sure everything is in order, especially with longer games. I hope you'll continue exploring these characters in the future!!

thank you for submitting your game to the jam!
Thank you so much for your comment!! Great that you got to know about more books through my game, that's awesome!
I'm happy to hear that you found Kai and June relatable, I really tried my best in portraying different aspects of their personality :D

Thank you for your comment, I appreciate that you gave my game a go despite not being a book club guy!!
