I like the theming, you have going on, and the background is pretty nice. I do feel like sometimes it is a bit hard to either dodge bullets or kill enemies before they can fill up the screen with projectiles. For having as little time as you did, it turned out pretty well.

Developer

Thank you!

The game was designed with bombs in mind, but I chickened out because I started to implement them a few hours before deadline. I wasn’t confident enough to make area collision in GameMaker. 😭 Hence why it’s so hard to dodge.

It’s all thanks to decent-looking background LOL

It's a really nice start! It does seem a bit unpolished but that is understandable because you had exams going on. It was also quite hard so I'm glad I had infinite lives! I died 10 times, mostly to those red fairies! I also really liked the artwork, it was really good!

Developer

Yeah, I had to downgrade gameplay compared to Starry Sunshine. I don’t know why I decided to double dip despite knowing I’m in the middle of exam week.

Infinite lives were actually because of lack of time 😅 think I started to implementing life logic a few hours before deadline and I was just feeling catatonic wanting to make sprites for life counter. So I decided to hold on.

Did you know that you can cheese red fairies? Stand on one of bottom corners, then very sliiiightly tap to the left or right side. It’s actually a common bullet hell dodging technique AFAIK.

Thanks for art compliment!

I think the bombs would've been really cool though!

This is a decent starting point. The core is there. The music and graphics fit together well with the style of game. It felt like the difficulty jumped pretty quick when the red fairies showed up, but after a few I figured out how to deal with them. I beat it with 9 deaths in my first play.

Thanks for playing!

If it wasn’t for exams, I’d polish up the game.

The difficulty is unfortunately high because I planned to make bombs, but I literally had no time to make bombs.

You did really good on nailing that game feel. I personally wanted to infinitely blow-up stuff. It was amazing. But try to be a little more original with the gameplay, like try switching between different modes of gameplay. But other than that, this game was really good. I like the concept!!!

Developer

Thank you!!!

I only know how to make shmups T_T
