I really like the atmosphere of this game, the music and the visuals work really well together! And the camera movement is really interesting too, feels fluid.

Similar to someone else's comment, I found the "double press" to dash really easy to accidentally activate. But i like the little cooldown indicator, that is clean.

On my second run I managed to squeeze the ball out of the room and it never came back haha, before I even had 1 score xD So a little bug there.

Overall I really like it though!

Suggestions to make it even better:

  • Add some sort of visual effects when you destroy an enemy, like little particles or something <3
  • Perhaps dashing through enemies could also destroy them? But that would defeat the main objective of using the ball as your weapon.

Ty! Appreciate the lengthy review! Will fix that bug and adjust the controls after the jam. I was actually going to add some particles but ran out of time unfortunately :(
As for the dashes, I feel like while it could be cool but it'd probably just be really OP. The cooldown for the dash is only like a second long or something so you'd probably be able to just dash back and forth to farm enemies over and over unfortunately

Yeah I think I agree dashing to damage enemies would break the meta a bit. I wonder if there are other things you could do, maybe dashing into the ball makes it bounce like crazy... but somehow limit how often the player can do that? I'm not sure, but I think there's definitely scope to create some really fun and interesting interactions :D

Hmm, that's a pretty good idea actually. You can actually already dash at it for a more powerful kick but it's just not worth it since you can only dash orthogonally which limits its usefulness pretty severely. Having to dash at the ball to kick it was actually my initial idea but it didn't work out because of the same reason
Maybe it could get an AoE or something, I dunno? Or just become more bouncy as you said

Gameplay is pretty fun one problem with it is double-press to trigger dash, It's too easy to do accidentally.

Suits theme quite good because of, well, ball, and leaderboard ofc.

I like those shaders, they add some eye candy, style is coherent.

SFX are pretty good, music choice is alright, could be better.

Good job on your first game!

Thank you for the feedback! My idea for the dashes was to have them be terraria-style where you just double press the direction you want to go since I thought it'd be simpler than introducing another key (the space bar to dash was added last minute), but yeah, in hindsight unless you're used to it already it can be pretty confusing and easy to accidentally trigger

Cool game, I had some issues running this on lower end devices though.

Developer

Thanks and appreciate the feedback! I'm planning on updating it after the jam sometime, will make sure to add more graphical settings once I do

The increasing number on leaderboard looks awesome .

Developer

Thanks! If you're curious how it's done, I just have an amount variable with a setter and it tweens to the value it receives and sets the text accordingly. It's pretty simple but I think it can make counters look much more lively

Gameplay feels responsive, and the art style is great. Nice game!

Thank you! I tried really hard to make the movement feel fun and responsive so this means a lot to me :)

I got first place! Haha

This idea is really nice, the visuals are neat, and the music has a nice chill vibe. Well done!
