good idea and nice work ! :)
Love the little rock jam and the goblin skating on a portal. Aesthetically it's super pleasing.
Satisfying gameplay loop but if you added some more obstacle types it would help keep things interesting .
I think the hitbox for the health potion was maybe a bit small, I had a real tough time grabbing them.
Great work.
Cool idea for the jam
The 2D character gives it a nice look on the 3D world and the music is great :)
I think the obstacles might be coming to fast but that makes part of the challenge.
Overall a nice experience.
Congrats on the submission!
Cool game, nice assets and fun gameplay!
Good idea and great assets. I liked the 2D character mixed in the 3D environment. The lights passing by and forming shadows also really helped to sell the immersion. Suggestion for improvement I think would be camera zooming or positioning based on speed. Reading the depth of the character was kinda hard and at max speed quite impossible. Nevertheless I had fun. Great job!
I liked how you combined the theme of the jam with rock & just simple avoid-objects-platformer inside of dungeon… 3D assets are clean too, which is rare case for the jams :)
Otoh, sometimes I thought I would avoid barrels, but I did not - so maybe some visual alignment there might help
This reminded me a lot of Turbo Tunnel from Battletoads (vid below), so it was a real big hit of nostalgia for me. I think it would have been great if you also had the barrels and other items be 2d sprites on the 3d dungeon environment, that made for a really cool visual style with the player character.
Very fun.
Only nitpick I have is that score should probably be based on distance travelled instead of time survived, purely so that the speed boosts have a positive impact on score (instead of making the game harder with no upside). Still good regardless.
Hey! Thanks for your feedback. The scoring is actually based on distance, but we definitely could communicate it more clearly.
Awesome job capturing the theme, and the character art + idea is great! The use of camera smoothing really helps build the sense of speed too.
Wouldn't mind some extra challenges to avoid as you advance, had a lot of fun though :)
Thanks for the comment! If only we had more time, more scaling difficulty was at the top of my list
